If you want to spice up your meats, try fennel seeds. I sprinkle them on the griddle before I cook steak, pork or chicken, and use them in every type of dish cooked thing I make. The taste fabulous, rather aniseedy but not like liquorice.
Fresh bulb fennel is nice too, sliced and fried witht he meats.

| I use these once in a while mixed with ground beef, just for a different flavor. |

I love cabbage fried in bacon fat with bacon pieces with several tablespoons of Fennel seed. I also have a great recipe Fennel Sausage.
