I live in Colorado but I'm from Louisiana....
I'm a 50 yr old married female. 3 kids, 2 oldest live in Japan, one son left at home. I'm a health freak but I've never had any real health issues...not sure what that means?
I do not know ANYONE IRL who even low (or moderate) carbs, so I come to forums for support and to talk about my WOE without catching flack. I bore my poor DH to death talking about nutrition, health, food. I finally got him to give up trans fats but he's a sugar addict. He and DS are thin, never have had weight problems.
I went on my first low carb diet in 1979. The first Atkins book, I think. I've known ever since then that carbs mess me up, but I've been off and on many times. I'm sick of the yo-yoing, so I'm COMMITTED to a WOL now that is unashamedly carnivore!! I'm not able to do raw, but I won't rule it out in the future.
I do still have 15 lbs I wanna lose, but I'm doing this because I am more sane eating this way, I feel GREAT, have unlimited energy, my hormones work better, actually everything works better. Brain chemistry is definitely improved.
Glad to be here.

to the Bus, Lisa!
So glad you decided to climb aboard. We're all glad you're here.
We all have similar issues with people not understanding this and thinking that we're crazy. Just grab a red pill and help yourself to some Kool-Aid. It's at the back of the Bus.

Lisa,
After you've had some Kool-Aid, you won't need any wine! _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Lisa, I'm the resident wino. We're in the minority, though. If you ever wanna talk wine, I'm your man. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

Good to know I'm not alone! At present though, I'm abstaining until I get 10 lbs off. Alcohol completely stops my weight loss (not because I drink too much or anything ).
I drink mostly red wines. I like them all really. My favorites lately are Spanish reds, and I do like Cava. My oldest son got married in Spain last summer and we visited Barcelona while we were there. I had some great Riojas, and when in Cambados for the wedding we had their Albarino white which I fell in love with. I've tried all kinds of Spanish reds since I got back and I'm stuck on them, for now!
DH doesn't drink (24 years sober) so talk wine to me whenever you want!! |

I'm familiar with both Rioja and Albarino. I've only tasted one Albarino and maybe a couple of Riojas. For whites, I am partial to New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. They taste like nothing else on this earth. Reds......well, I like them all. Especially with a nice fatty steak or a bit of cheese. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |
