This will be a nice haven for my thoughts. I intend to be happy here, rant and rave, have tantrums, share hopes, disappointments, joys, and other general insanity.
Feel free to drop in anytime.
Thursday, August 10th -
Boss came back from long trip to South Africa, Germany and Czechoslovakia. She was gone for 6 weeks so very busy at work catching up. I love my Boss but my co-workers suck big-time. I can't stand them. Hey, I'm 56 years old and this has never happened to me and I don't know how to handle it so I'm extremely polite to everyone but cool. I usually get along with everyone. However, found out during my yearly evaluation (I' started in February 2005) that there were problems at work before I started there, so I felt relieved. I thought it was something I did.
Keeping on track somewhat. Had a few cheat days in past 2 weeks and woke up this morning at 207 pounds.
B: 3 egg cheddar cheese omelet, 4 slices bacon
L: 1 can smoked herrings, 1 pickle, 1 small bowl chili and 1 peanut butter cookie (yes I know )
S: chocolate shake with 2 raw egg yolks, 4 oz pure beef meatloaf with a bit of cheddar sprinkled on top
3 cups coffee with cream, 1 bottle diet coke, Lots of water

Thanks for the thoughts Susanne but I've fallen badly this month and am dragging my ass around. Using this long weekend to de-tox. No cheat foods in the house (well there never are but work is a bitch for crap). Planning a trip to the Hutterite farm tomorrow with my neighbour to pick up fresh meat, eggs and dairy, so looking forward to that.
Last week bought a brand new car (cause my son was driving my old clunker which finally died and he went and bought himself HIS OWN CAR which left me free to buy a new one without worrying about him grabbing it) (yeah I know I'm a soft touch, but he's my only child and he does work and he's usually pretty good). Anyway long story, but I now have MINE OWN CAR
Here is a link to it: Silver Hatchback exactly as shown in picture. It's the most beautiful car in the world.
http://www.hyundaicanada.com/HYUN...p;DocumentID=72&LanguageID=en
and yes I feel like a kid with a new toy. This car gives me the Volkswagen feel without the VW price tag,
Susanne, thanks for asking. You are doing very well and I'm very happy for you. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

CarolAnn, yes there is that about a new car, it comes with a price for those of us who don't have money just waiting for a place to be spent. If I had waited until I was debt free and able to pay for it outright, I'd never have a car period, old or new. Enjoy your newfound car-payment-less freedom. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Heather thanks for your encouragement. So far so good. Haven't cheated yet, well except for 3 slices of tomato with my bacon and eggs. Cooking beef and cabbage soup in the crook pot. I use this for lunches. The Hutterites had bags of beet greens and I can't resist those so they go into the soup.
My neighbour Elsie bought 4 chickens and 2 ducks. We forgot about the cases of bacon so we go again next weekend. Great excuse to go for a ride and gab. Since we just met, we kind of talked about our lives, our ex-husbands, our kids and grandkids, our dreams and disappointments. She was married for 33 years and her husband left her. She said that if her grandson didn't live with her, the pain would have steered her into the gutter but she now has a purpose for her life and she's getting back on track. She is aboriginal and an elder. Elders are not supposed to live and eat alone.
Here's a toast to my new friendship. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Where do you get the eggs from? I am going to be in the city on Friday.
And I have been good all weekend. I think having a small goal helps me stay focused without getting overwhelmed and giving up.

Heather, the eggs I buy from a small little family run shop on 108 Ave and 97 St on the corner. You have to get there early between 9 and 10 am otherwise they sell out. Sometimes they don't have any at all or just the small ones. I like those too cause they have large yolks even though they are small. Hope that helps and I haven't been paying attention cause I'm so busy at work, working overtime and getting home at 8 and being tired. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Ok I wanted to use that cause that's how I feel. Stressed out, exhausted and miserable. August and early September suck the life out of me. I'm too old for this. I just want to retire somewhere quiet with an internet connection in my room or meet a 95 year old millionaire bachelor with no living relatives.
I have sooooo blown it. I'm up to 212 pounds. All this stress and long hours and snacking at work are DRIVING ME NUTS. I am completely out of control. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Ok, so you're up a little. Let's get after it again together and pretty soon you'll be down a little. Are you able to exercise at all? That is one of the most important things right now when it comes to managing my stress - if I can get in some walking or a little aerobics almost every day, nothing much gets on my nerves (except Hell Week, of course).
Come post and talk to us every day - we'll help you get back on track. Plan your meals, get a bottle of L-Glutamine for cravings, and let's hit it!!!

Thanks for the words of support kids. Jessica and Susanne: your new avatars are absolutely fabulous.
Between illnesses, finding out my rent is going up by 100 dollars per month, being stressed over it, working 9-12 hour days, being stressed over it, and being busier than hell, I achieved an almost unheard of state: ALMOST CAUGHT UP with everything but my house work
But you know what? Every morning, after swearing at the alarm clock, I am actually pleased to be alive. I'm awake, breathing and alive
That's all that really matters. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Thanks Susanne but I think I'll use the ribs in sour cabbage soup. Made paprika cabbage and pork chop soup this weekend and it was to die for. I have enough for 3 days. I'm going strict home-cooked now. Got buffalo steaks free from a co-worker today and will make stew this weekend. I've just been throwing in whatever (tomatos, garlic, onions, mushrooms, red peppers) along with the meat into the pot and letting it slow cook. Last week I made beef and pork hamburger soup. Froze some of it. I stopped fighting my urge to eat soups and stews (after following an all meat diet), and started eating my "comfort" foods which have always been soups and stews, only minus the pasta and starchy veggies with lots of any kind of meat.
Got over the induction flu this weekend and am back down to 205 pounds. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Thanks for all the encouragement. Glad someone missed me
Hey, Susanne, you are only 11 pounds lighter than me. That's not much, haha _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Today was great. Big slab of cinnamon buns tempting me for 2 days in the office. Sugary snacks at the meeting this afternoon. Willpower held out.
Food today:
can of kippered herring, homemade hamburger soup, 5 strawberries with 2 tablespoons of natural yogurt, 4 slices bacon, 2 eggs, 3 coffees with cream, 1 ounce aged cheese.
Feeling great and repeating to myself over and over again that this is how it feels to not eat carbs. GGGRRRREEEAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!
Susanne, here I come, at a slower pace, but I'm definitely on my way. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Wow, this sounds really good. Could you share the recipe when you get a chance?
And congrats on the willpower. Once you get back into the groove of good eating, it will get that much easier.
Hope you have a great and restful weekend! |

I do not use recipes but this is what I do for the hamburger soup:
Use ground beef and/or pork (fry first and don't drain the fat ) (set aside) Use lots of meat
What I always add: onions, minced garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, red peppers, tons of paprika, black pepper and salt
What I sometimes add if I have any in stock: mushroom broth, cabbage, zuchinni
Throw everything in crock pot, add water (or broth) and cook for a few hours.
That's it.
Also, I use other meats, for example pork goes well with more cabbage, hence my pork chop and cabbage soup .
If using chicken, I skip the cabbage, make sure I use mushroom broth and add sour cream and cream before serving. Paprika can be replaced with curry powder as well.
I use tons of paprika because it's my favorite seasoning. It's more instinctive, whatever I have lying around, and whatever grabs my fancy at the time cooking.
I never tire of the stuff only because soups and stews are comfort foods to me. Must be living here up north that creates a need for hot foods.
Besides, these are so simple to make, delicious and last almost all week, can be frozen and taken to work for lunch.
More than you bargained for Alisa, lol. And it's Thanksgiving weekend here. I'm planning to have a great one _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/196.2/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)
