Hey Guys,

Glad to be a member of the community.I've been reading a bit about a carnivorous diet and finally decided to start with it.So far all good and ive managed to have fine energy levels with 2 meals.Originally i was going to go paleo with vegetables and fruit but after reading a bit more i think carnivore is the way to go.

But onto my actual question.Im currently 16,5'11'',187lb,12.5lb and my current goal is to reduce my body fat into the 6-7% range.I do martial arts 2-3 hours 5 days a week and tabata sprinting every day.

Now I was basically wondering would a carnivorous 0 carb diet help me to achieve my goal and stay there. And if so does anyone have any suggestions as to the best ways to do it and optimal meals?

I plan to stick with the diet for life as long as it seems to be having a positive effect on me and not causing too many problems.I'd be very grateful for any help. My current measurements are:
neck:16
chest:43
Bicep:15
forearm:12
Wrist:7
ribcage:39
abdomen:36
waist:35
hips:41
thigh:25
calf:16

Ill try and get a picture to put up soon.
Thanks in advance. Happy

Shane, energy should not be a problem.  For many there is a transition period, where the body adapts to using fat and ketones for energy.  Things are usually fine within a 2-3 week period.  I transitioned very smoothly, and never experienced a lack of energy.

Eating zero carb should get you down to 10-12% body fat  Just eat meat and drink water.  Eat as much as you feel like.  Eat when hungry, don't eat when not hungry.  If you want to get to mid-single digits, that will most likely requre some calorie restriction, but I wouldn't worry about that until you reach that point.

Good luck!

Not unless eating alot of fat causes problems for you.  Some people have trouble digesting alot of fat when there is a sudden increase.  If there are no problems, then don't worry about it.

Ok well today i had a chuck eye steak, now the only problem is with the fat.I really cant eat it.I thinks its jst the texture makes me feel sick so is there any alternative ways of eating it?eg.cooking it longer or should i resort to drinking cups of melted butter..or is it really that important?

High fat ground beef can provide all the fat you need, beef tongue, whole heads (cow, lamb, pig, goat, etc..), chicken leg quarters, duck, etc.....

Rabbit starvation, it seems, is offset by consuming EFA's which looks promising, 10gs of fishoil a day will allow a person to consume MUCH LESS fat per day while exhibiting none of the classic symptoms of rabbit starvation :diarrhea, weakness, etc... however, I don't reccommend going below a certain point as you need it for calories and energy and a true high protein diet would not be healthy.

You can always grill/fry the fat parts, also hot sauce, allows me to eat a steak completely raw and cold, even the fatty portion, without feeling sick at all.

As for your goal to get down to 6-7%, I'm starting an experiment pretty soon to get down to that % too. I also lift heavy weights, do Tabata sprinting, Martial Arts and other fun things.

I'll be posting a thread when I start it and I'll be needing test subjects along with myself, you're free to join in.

You could cook the fat longer, if that helps.  It certainly won't hurt anything.  As long as you're eating fairly fatty meat, you really don't need to add extra fat, such as butter.  Maybe you could look for some well marbled meat that doesn't have much fat around the edges.  That way you're still getting the fat.  It's just not so noticeable when you eat it.

How is your energy so far?

Savage,

Sounds good. Tribal Games would be the forum to post your experiment thread in, if it has to do with primarily exercise, otherwise Metabolic Ward. I may just be game to be a test subject. I'm lean now. I just wanna build muscle, and get somewhat ripped in the abs. Nothing extreme, since I don't like that look at all.

Look forward to your thread. Cool

Eggs with butter are fine.  Dig in!  If your energy is good, then you will probably have an easy transition, much like I did.  I felt great the whole time and never had a problem with "induction flu" or a lack of energy.  It sounds like you're well on your way, Shane.

I have no idea what would be cheap in Dublin.  It may be totally different than here in the States.  Certain cuts of beef can usually be bought cheaply.  Pork and chicken are usually fairly inexpensive as well.  If you get chicken, make sure not to get skinless.  Skinless does not have near enough fat.  For chicken, I like thighs.  Nice and fatty.

It's mandatory that people control their eating and their exercise, equally.

It will be posted in the Metabolic Ward, for easier reference.

Lean mass is anything that is not fat.  This includes water.  People new to LC or ZC usually drop about 5-10 pounds in the first few days.  It's mostly water and glycogen.

oh right,i was scared that i just shedded 4 pounds of muscle! At the moment i'm consuming 1500-2000 calories out of a base calorie requirement of 2600.I'm also excercising 2 and a half hours to 3 hours a day. That 1500 calories is keeping me going amazingly well, normally when i train id need at least 3000 or id feel tired. Now would you be able to estimate, how long should it take be to purn off 10 pounds of fat? That should supposedly bring by bf% to about 6%.I'd like to try and lose a bit of that before June if possible as i'd quite like an eight pack etc for the summer. My abs are quite large yet at 12% i can still only see the upper 2 compared to many people i know who have much less muscle and 13-14% fat with everything visible.Any idea why that could be?

It's impossible to predict rate of weight loss.  As much as people like to think there is, there is no formula that you can plug numbers into and get an answer.  I've seen people lose fat on 5,000 calories per day with no exercise, and I've seen people not lose on 1,200 calories per day with daily exercise.

Having said all that, losing 1-3 pounds per week is uaually a reasonable expectation.  However, people that don't have much to lose often lose more slowly.  But the fact that you can exercise two and a half to three hours per day on only 1500 calories probably means that your body has easy access to your fat stores.  This is because your insulin levels are low.  When insulin is high, fat is trapped.  You'll probably know within a couple of weeks how your weight loss will go.
