Yes, I'm back to this again. However, I changing the rules. Before I was allowing just about everything, including dairy and coconut oil. This time around it's going to be more limiting. I'm still going to join in the March challenge as none of the food will be off that challenge. But I'll keep this challenge for actual logging of food items and tracking weight changes.

Meat & fat
Eggs
butter
decaf
maybe seasonings (so far I've been happy without)

Goal: Reach 90/10 ratio of fat/protein w/every meal - not as a total for the day. Eat only when feeling actual hunger, stop when not hungry (not stuffed).

I'm a little concerned remembering the acid reflux from before. But I was also eating a lot of coconut oil and other dairy, like cream cheese, AS and non-meat items. So I guess we'll see. I'll be starting tomorrow as I had an espresso w/HC & AS. Why I decided to have that I don't know, but it's giving me the urpies.

Best of "luck"on your new challenge.  I hope that the changes you have made for this time prevent the reflux for you.

Tina,

A lot of people seem to experience nausea with really high fat. Are you doing this to break a stall or speed up weight loss? Just curious. Please let us know exactly what you are eating and what type of reactions you have to it. I think it will be very interesting to see your results. Cool

Sunny

Oh, the urpies are because of the AS, I know. I haven't had it in a while, and thought I'd check it out again. I'm not diggin' it, so I'm dropping it.

Thanks everyone. I'm planning on not eating until I'm feel real hunger, not just the kind that comes and goes if I drink some water. I'm hoping that'll help with the reflux.

I have several reasons for doing this again.
1. my skin is very dry and I remember this made it very soft and not dry at all.
2. I had a lot of energy and slept really well.
3. I'm trying to break my stall. I've been hanging out at 209-210 for over a week, almost two. I'm guessing that I'm overeating. I can get up to 160g of protein a day w/out trying.
4. I'm curious to see if I have a different result with the reflux w/out all the extra non-meat items.

I'm also going to shoot for about 40-60 grams of protein. If I remember right, it's really difficult to get more than that on a consistent basis due to how much fat there is.

I'm mainly planning on having decaf w/yolks and butter for meals as that will get me a good amount of fat. Then if I still feel the need for addt'l protein, I will add after that.

I have high hopes for this again. Last night I consumed a lot of butter in my decaf, no reflux and I lost a half a pound this morning. I was only able to get to 85% yesterday and I did have AS... I'm hoping for a better result now with the higher fat and w/out the AS.

Beginning Stats:
Weight: 208.5
Height: 5'5.5"
Measurements:
Chest:41.5
Waist: 36.5
Hips: 44.5
Thighs: 26
Not doing biceps (I'm not that coordinated and everyone else is still asleep)

Health: Feel good, some energy throughout yesterday - nothing outrageous, sinus issues today (had dairy yesterday), wide awake this morning and hungry.

going to have b'fst now.

Breakfast:
1 cup decaf
2 yolks
2 tbsp butter

2 eggs fried sunny side up
3 tbsp butter

Calories: 767
Carbs: 2g
Fat: 76g
Protein: 19g

Once again, doesn't seem like a lot of food, but I'm very full and happy.

Was planning on working out last night but then found out we were going to have a snowfall, so I figured I'd have to shovel today anyways.  Confused

Fell off the wagon over the weekend. I'm blaming it on lack of will power combined w/TOM & AS(s). But I'm back again today and I'm going strong.

My lapse of judgment set me back to 211 this morning, which is probably mostly water weight. Serves me right. Roll Eyes So I'll see how tomorrow looks.

Haven't been hungry this morning, so have had a couple of cups of decaf w/yolks and butter.

So far I'm at 91/7.4/1.6 F/P/C

Hey Manaloa,

It looks like you jump right back on the bus without missing a step! I've been thinking more about your comment that I shouldn't feel I have to add anything more after a few weeks of ZC.  I have no idea what I'll want to do in a few weeks, but I'm keeping it in mind.  I guess I'll have to see where I am at that point.

Hope this week goes well for you. Happy

Karen

Thanks Karen.  Happy The only reason I brought it up was because for the last couple of years I would think I was happier adding stuff back in. But I always come back here because I feel better without it.

Yay, back to 209. Lost two of the 2 1/2 lbs that I gained for jumping off the bus over the weekend. See, this is why I was never able to do that CKD, it would take half the week just to lose the weight from the weekend. So frustrating.

Thanks Karen, though I won't be truly happy until I am at least where I was before I jumped off the bus over the weekend.

So far no reflux. I'm guessing what happened prior probably had something to do with the large amounts of dairy with the high fat. Once again I was really full after supper. After I started drinking the butter, I really didn't want to eat, but I hadn't really had much the rest of the day, so figured I'd better.

I can't believe I actually ate an entire stick of butter at supper. An Entire Stick of Butter!!!!! Wow  shhhhh, don't tell DH.  LOL

I'm following your challenge with great interest - looks like you're doing awesome too.

I'm curious - When you say drinking your butter - are you drinking this straight or adding it to something?

Keep up the good work!

Both actually. I melt butter and add it to my coffee w/a little HC and sometimes yolks. Kinda the way some of those people on the LC forum do w/coconut oil. I can usually get about 3 tbsp of butter in before it just tastes like only melted butter. Not that it's a bad thing, just that I like the taste of coffee.

And then I put butter on my meat and if I don't eat it fast enough (which I usually don't because after a couple swallows of my buttery coffee, I'm not hungry any more), then it melts so I have a puddle of beefy, buttery juice at the bottom of my plate that I drink up. Sometimes I wait until after I've dipped each piece of meat into it before drinking, but then it gets cold and I don't like it cold.

Wow, that almost made me hungry.  LOL

Well, the good news is I've whooooshed past my starting weight to 207. No cheating for me this weekend.  Yup

Yesterday I was traveling all day for work, so I just drank coffee all day.

B:
1 cup decaf
1 tbsp HC
3 tbsp butter
Calories: 360
Carb: 0g
Fat: 40g
Protein: 1g

L:
3 cups decaf (counting three since I had more but didn't finish several)
1 oz 2% milk
~1/2 cup half & half
Calories: 173
Carb: 7g  Wow
Fat: 15g
Protein: 5g

D:
3 oz beef brisket
2 tbsp butter
Calories: 772
Carb: 0g
Fat: 77g
Protein: 20g

Total for the day:
Calories: 1,304
Carb: 7g   (?)-- ---2.1%
Fat: 131g --------89.9%
Protein: 26g ----8%

AM Weigh In: 207lbs

I was hungry all afternoon because of the milk (all they had at one place) & the half & half (starbucks seems the only place that has heavy cream)

Down another lb today. Tomorrow will be one week. I'll be posting an update w/all the measurements tomorrow morning.

Wasn't very hungry today.

B:
1 cup beef broth (homemade)
~3 tbsp tallow
2 tbsp butter
1 oz brisket
Calories: 758
Carb: 0g
Fat: 79g
Protein: 12g

L:
1 cup decaf
~3 tbsp HC
Calories: 158
Carb: 1g
Fat: 17g
Protein: 1g

D: 832   1   84   18
1 cup beef broth (homemade)
~2 tbsp tallow
2 tbsp butter
2 oz brisket
Calories: 832
Carb: 0g
Fat: 84g
Protein: 12g

Total for the day:
Calories: 1749
Carb: 1g   (?)-- ---.4%
Fat: 180g --------92.6%
Protein: 32g ----7%

Notes:
I'm finding my appetite disappearing immediately after starting my meals with straight fat.

The lack of protein is affecting me mentally versus physically. I have no desire to eat any more food, but mentally think about all the meat I was able to eat when my fat was lower and wondering if I should be eating more.

No reflux at all, unlike last time.

I'm really diggin' the broth w/butter. Much easier to get my fat in.

I haven't been seasoning anything, and haven't missed it. I'm still cooking for DH & DD but oddly enough don't really smell the food that I'm cooking, unless I get my face clear down in the food. And even then, I smell it, but it doesn't seem to trigger any desire to eat it.

Tina,

That's cool about the broth. I got a bone awhile ago from my main meat man Wink (not that kinda bone! LOL ), and was gonna try to get marrow out of it, or just use it to make broth. I've never made bone broth before, but, I keep hearing about all you guys drinkin' this stuff, and even adding butter to it. Heart

Butter and a bone. Devil Well, it sounds good. Will you tell me how to make it? I mean, how to make the bone broth. Grin

Results:
Beginning Stats:
Weight: 208.5
Height: 5'5.5"
Measurements:
Chest:41.5
Waist: 36.5
Hips: 44.5
Thighs: 26

1st Week Stats:
Weight: 204 .......-4.5lbs
Height: 5'5.5".....-0 (whew, didn't shrink)
Measurements:
Chest:39............-2.5in (sniff, sniff)
Waist: 36.25.......-.25in (would have liked more)
Hips: 42.5..........-2in
Thighs: 25.5.......-.5in

Food intake Monday through Friday:
Calories:
Range: 1304 to 1895
Average: 1655.2
Carb:
Range: 1 to 7g
Average: 3.6g
Fat:
Range: 131 to 190g
Average: 161.8g
Protein:
Range: 26 to 70g
Average: 46.2g

Health: Feel good, consistent energy throughout the day - no huge amounts of extra energy, very calm all of the time, still have lingering sinus issues (still using HC & such), sleep is wonderful - fall right to sleep, wake up, wide awake and rested, consistently get up at around the same time. Minor increase in body temp, no longer feel especially cold, most noticeable in the mornings and at at bedtime.

This week's experiment is flawed because I had fallen off the wagon over the weekend. This next week should provide better accuracy for this experiment as I don't have any inclination to cheat.

Manaloa, great experiment and looks like your getting good results.  I did an 80% fat experiment  recently and just like you, the inches really came off.  Your waist will catch up, mine did but a little later on.

Keep up the great work, y0u!

No it was not sustainable. I enjoy a higher protein ratio for the most part

thanks for responding!!! so how is it going with you? I am really interested for I have been experimenting with that fat/protein ratio for a while now, too - again.

I think that I should be able to have more protein now than before, because I have ditched all sweeteners, but it takes some time to get my body to adjust to it.
At least, that's what I'm hoping!

Kim, I found the higher fat, lower protein hard to sustain only because it took such work to get the ratios to work. Now that I'm just doing meat with some eggs, I don't worry about ratios, they just fall into place. I can always tell when I need a little extra fat. If I'm craving butter then I need more fat. My ratios end up somewhere in the 65% to 75% fat to 25% to 35% protein. So my grams of fat and protein are usually about equal. It's funny how when you remove the cravings for sweets your body seems to know what you need.

My fault.  I started calling her Kim for some reason.  Brain fart, I guess.   LOL

Hey, for the first time, it's not all Bobi's fault!
