So after going a bit crazy on my vacation, I need to challenge myself to get back on track and not eat anymore garbage.

So it's back to basics:
anything meat (and egg)
coffee (of course)
half n half or heavy cream
maybe a bit of cheese (if I feel like it)
condiments, sauces, mayo - if necessary

I'm planning on staying away from nuts at the moment. I'm having an awful time lately not eating myself sick on pistachios.

For the first part of my day I'm planning just the coffee and half n half. Not sure for lunch/supper yet.

So, vacation didn't go so well? It sounds like you're back on track, though. Hang in there.

Manaloa,

Sounds like you took a vacation from your WOE. That can happen very easily. Not to worry. Just get back on it. The IFing really helps, doesn't it? I find that drinking my coffee and half & half first thing, and putting off eating, really helps me to stay focused on eating the right food. I think IF is just as effective at carb/calorie control as carnivore eating.

Welcome back, Mana. I hope you had a nice trip. Cool

I had a lovely trip, but with everything we were doing, it just didn't work out the way I wanted to for food.

So, I haven't had anything yet today for food, just coffee w/cream. I've got a fish fillet in the oven cooking now though and a whole BBQ chicken for tomorrow. Today I've had moments of slight hunger, but a bit of coffee and cream and it was gone. I'm guessing it's from an overdose of food this last week.

Well, yesterday was good for food. I had coffee with half n half for most of the day. During my mid-day break I had a cod fillet that was broiled with some spices. After I got home for the night I had BBQ chicken, both legs, thighs and wings. Then I deboned the breast for today.

I'm down to 208lbs again. Yay!! So it'll be more of the same today for food.

We had a food day at work, and even though there was meat and cheese and I had brought BBQ'd chicken, I still ate tortilla chips and cheese dip and then when I went out with my husband for supper I had chicken wings but then later decided to split a piece of chocolate fudge cake with him. ugh Roll Eyes

I'm blaming it on TOM and the fact that my new supervisor is psycho/crazy and stressing me out.

So I'm starting over again today. Yup

Mana,

Just always remind yourself that it's not how many times you stumble... it's how many times you keep at it. In the end, you are going to be far healthier than if you just ate mindlessly throughout your life. I know the kinda crap I used to shovel into my mouth 24x7. But now, even though I have eaten off my desired WOE more times than I care to remember, I KNOW I am WAY better off for at least having a regular WOE to try to stick to. Otherwise, I'd probably be so messed up right now! It's not about being perfect, it's just about aiming for perfection. It's hard sometimes to realize that we can NEVER actually BE perfect, but that if we AIM for it, we will be close enough, and as I've said, WAY better off for doing so.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

OK OK, So I finally quit my job and found a fantastic new one, which started this Monday!!! My new boss is awesome. He took me out to lunch on Monday, he suggested sandwiches, but I told him that I don't eat bread. I ended up getting some pepper beef w/rice. (ate all the meat, a couple bites of veggies & rice)We talked about it during lunch and he asked if I was on Atkins or something (I copped out and said yes) Roll Eyes

Anyways he was really supportive and said it worked, so he hasn't been pushing any bad food at me!!! Yay!! So I've been spending this week trying to get off of sugar/carbs again.

I've been using half & half for my coffee because it was cheaper, but I switched back to heavy cream yesterday. I figure it's worth it since my boss and I are both coffee hounds and I'll be drinking a bunch of it. Once again am trying to cut out the nuts, I'm soooo addicted to them. Bonkers

I started Monday at 208.5lbs and today I'm back down to 204. Another 5lbs and I'll be back to the weight I was at before I jumped off the wagon head first. LOL

Monday
Cals: 2482
Fat: 187
Carb:100
Protein:99
AM Weight: 208.5

Tuesday
Cals: 2636
Fat: 201
Carb:23
Protein:158
AM Weight: 207

Wednesday
Cals: 3646
Fat: 329
Carb:44
Protein:140
AM Weight: 205.5

Thursday
Cals: 2858
Fat: 206
Carb:40
Protein:182
AM Weight: 204

Friday
Cals: 3009
Fat: 269
Carb:27
Protein:124
AM Weight:204

So, according to
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
Since I'm completely sedentary and get no exercise, in order to maintain my weight I need to consume ~2010 calories/day. So far this week I've gone over my calories by about 4500 and I've lost 4.5lbs. Crazy. Wow

Another lb gone
I'll post my other stuff at the end of the day, since I'm home all day it might change.
My DH is making his yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmy chili tonight.
Heart  Heart  Heart
I made some "ground chili beef" which is mostly meat. So I could take about 8 oz of that and mix it with about 1/2 - 1 cup of his chili. He makes the best chili. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I did end up snacking last night on a beef stick and a handful of nuts, maybe a dozen almonds. So this is updated:
Saturday
Cals: 3357
Fat: 298g (78.8%)
Carb:58g (6.8%)
Protein:123g (14.4%)

This morning I made a "custard breakfast drink".
1/2 stick of butter
3 large egg yolks
1 cup heavy cream
1 pkg chocolate splenda
Once I warmed this up without curdling the eggs, I put it in my biggest cup and added coffee.
Wow, it's really rich, very tasty, but I'm at the bottom of the cup and I don't know if I can finish it. It'll probably take me another 1/2 hour, but I'll do it.

I'm going back and putting my percentages for the week:
Monday
Cals: 2482
Fat: 187g (67.8%)
Carb: 100g (16.2%)
Protein: 99g (16%)

Tuesday
Cals: 2636
Fat: 201g (71.4%)
Carb: 23g (3.6%)
Protein: 158g (25%)

Wednesday
Cals: 3646
Fat: 329g (80.1%)
Carb: 44g (4.8%)
Protein: 140g (15.1%)

Thursday
Cals: 2858
Fat: 206g (67.6%)
Carb: 40g (5.9%)
Protein: 182g (26.5%)

Friday
Cals: 3542
Fat: 329g (83%)
Carb: 36g (4.1%)
Protein: 116g (12.9%)

Wow, looking at it like this, I need to get my fat percentage up higher and my carbs lower.

Sunday morning AM Weight: 203lbs
Now I'm wondering, is my weight loss stalling because of all the extra calories or because my carbs were up to almost 60g yesterday? I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'm going to try to keep the carbs down to about 30 or less. I don't know how I'd get enough fat in if I didn't have the cream, so......  Roll Eyes

Mana,

I have not slipped up since beginning on Nov 1. I have dropped over 10 lbs... and, it's mostly body fat. The roll around my mid section was so thick, but now it is getting very small. The best losses were over the last 10 days or so. I have not really reduced calories, or dairy, or anything, other than to keep my carbs under 40. The only carbs I have had are the minor ones in cheese, eggs, and the major ones in half & half. I do IF for quite a few hours every day (and night, of course), and I believe that since my insulin is probably very low, and I don't have a very big problem with insulin resistance, my glucagon is up, and, therefore, my belly fat is melting away... being burned for fuel all day.

My suggestion to you is up your fat cals, because you're in that Metabolic Ward and must... but, other than that, make sure to keep your carbs as low as possible. Heavy cream does not have that many carbs, does it? If you stall for awhile, as I did, don't trip on it. I think it takes about 3 or 4 weeks for things to really start moving... and then, look out. Wink

Congrats for hopping back on the Bus! It's great to see people never giving up. Cool

Sunny

Dean & Bobi,
Most of the carbs I'm seem to be getting is from the eggs and cream. Since I'm consuming soooo much cream at one time, 1 cup of cream actually has about 6.6g carbs. And then some negligent (but cumulative) carbs from random veggies, sauces & spices. I'm up to about 2 cups of cream a day to get my fat up. I really didn't think I was going to make it this morning. After that morning custard shake thing, I was reaaaaaallly close to puking it back up because I was so full.  Puke

Anyways,
Sunday

AM Weight: 203 (still)

However, being a girl, I'm thinking that the weight will start falling off again here a couple days, KWIM  Roll Eyes  Oops

I don't seriously know how much longer I can do this, with all the food. I'm sooooo full, I almost can't stand myself. I think I might just try two meals a day because I don't think I can do more. I'm going to hope I can get the cals in. And try to drink the cream throughout the day. Maybe I'll try the root beer floats today.

Seriously, like right now, I've only eaten a 1/4 of my planned cals for breakfast and I DON'T WANT TO EAT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!1  Cry  Cry  Cry

I'd say your carbs need to be lower.  Your fat percnetages actually look ok to me.  Do you have Dean's heavy whipping cream available in your area?  It seems to be the lowest in carbs.  Sunny

Mana, what are you eating? What was your breaky supposed to be? I know what you mean. There have been some days where I just couldn't stomach all that food and it brought my averages down, but it was better than feeling sick to my stomach. Just take it easy and wait until you feel like you can eat. No pressure!

Eating tons and tons of calories sounds like alot of fun, but man, when it's all fat and protein, it is hard to do.  Yesterday was day 2 for me.  I had some breakfast at about 11 in the morning.  I was not the slightest bit hungry, and I had not eaten in 20 hours.  I had to force down 3 eggs fried in butter, 4 strips of bacon, and several cups of coffee with lots of heavy whipping cream.

Last couple of days I have been trying to get down that eggy coffee drink stuff. For instance, this morning I wasn't even hungry at all and after 1 cup of coffee with 1 egg yolk, 1 tbsp butter and 1-2 tbsp cream. I was very uninterested in breakfast which was supposed to be actually a desserty thing.
1 small pkg sugar free lemon jell-o
1 cup boiling water
1 8oz pkg cream cheese
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Mix all together and refrigerate and it makes kind of a foamy cheesecakey filling type thing. I divided it into two (very large) servings. I ate about 1/4 of 1 serving and I couldn't stomach any more for breakfast. Not because it didn't taste good, just because I was sooo darn full. So I ended up just making more of the eggy drink and drinking it over an hour. It was easier to drink the calories than to eat them.

Also I drink, oh, between 3-5 more cups of coffee during the day with a couple - four tbsp of cream in them too. The good news is that I tried the fake root beer float and I think that'll help me get a lot of the cream down.

Tuesday AM Weight: 204 lbs

I suspect bloating, which should fall off by tomorrow or the next day. Seriously I don't know if I can continue with the "study". I really don't like eating so much that I feel physically ill.

I've only been averaging about 3300 calories, which is only about 1300 calories over what I "should be" consuming for "maintenance".

I think maybe my problem may be trying to consume too many calories too early in the morning when I first wake up.

Tomorrow I'm going to try getting the bulk of the calories in the afternoon and evening. Today I did better when I didn't force the food early in the day. I even beat my highest calorie intake that I've ever recorded. LOL  Tomorrow I'm going to try to beat Jeff's highest calories. Cool

Tuesday
Cals: 4169

Oh, and TOM showed up so I expect that extra lb will fall off here tomorrow or the next day.

Since 11/27/07, (8 days)I have exceeded 10,960 calories over "maintenance" which means I should have gained about 3 lbs.

11/27/07
Weight 207 lbs

12/04/07
Weight 204 lbs

Wednesday
AM Weight: 205.5 lbs

However!!!!!!!!!! I checked my sodium for yesterday and it was double what I had been averaging for the week. So today my goal is to get my sodium down. It's hard for me because my staple foods that are high in fat are also high in sodium, like bacon and sausage.

I have heard, not tried it, that soaking the bacon in water will get a lot of the salt of it.

Mana, even at "only" 1300 extra calories per day, after 30 days the results should still be meaningful.  This "should" result in an 11 pound gain.

OK, I can't do any more. I'd forgotten that too much dairy gives me really bad sinus problems. I've got such a bad sinus headache now that I feel like throwing up.

Thursday
AM Weight: 203.5 lbs  Clap

Yeah, it was definitely the sodium. Unfortunately, I don't think I can keep consuming all that dairy. I've been getting nose bleeds for the last couple of days and I know that it's from all the extra cream.

So here are my totals for the 9 days:

Total calories: 30,284
Total EXCESS calories: 12,536

So I should have gained at least 3.58 lbs

Starting weight 11/27/07: 207 lbs
Ending weight 12/06/07: 203.5 lbs
