3 Day Carb Addicts ChallengeI MUST get off the sugar!
I have gone ONE day... and must go two more to complete this 3 day challenge! If anyone needs to join me, please do. Once I complete this 3 day challenge... I'm gonna start a 7 day challenge, and then 14, then 21, then 30, then 60, then 90! I am SO SICK of eating this way! I KNOW I can get off this stupid addiction if I just make it a priority!
So... who's with me? Here we go! Only 2 more days to reach my goal of 3 days of following my eating plan! Wish me luck, give me support, or better yet, join me in pursuing your woe goal!

I'm here cheering for you, Dean. Got yourself some L-Glutamine? That always help me bust the cravings...
And, having a plan always helps me...like, when I start feeling nuts, what am I going to do? (go for a walk, take L-Glutamine with a huge glass of water, eat eggs/jerky/smoothie/strawberrries, etc., call someone, journal on the Bus, etc.)
I'd join your challenge, but I've been sugar-free a long time ...so I will just wave the pom-poms and 'root for the home team.'
You CAN do it!!!!!!!
Heather
Being sugar free is a personal priority for me. I'm not struggling, right now, but I can use this challenge to motivate me to stay sugar free.
Heather
I mean, I'm not struggling with sugar, overeating is a different story.
Susanne
Yeah, me too, Heather - which is why I 'battened down the hatches" about a week ago!
Suzanne
I need to join you, but there's no point right now. But I will after I return from my trip.
Heather
Oh, I'm glad I stopped over here, I forgot this challenge. I was getting ready to lose it....
I'm stressed beyond my limits here....

Dean I bottomed out on Thursday and felt so bad I thought I'd die. However, today I am completly sugar and starch free, so I'm in for the 3 day challenge with 1 full day completed What I did was increase my water consumption. Maybe that helped?
Food today: 4 oz chicken, 4 oz cauliflower & brocolli, 1 hamburger patty, 1 slice bacon, 1/2 cup greek salad, 3 thin slices headcheese (all pork no cheese), and 3 cups coffee. That's it. No cravings despite, as usual, the regular temptations at work. I guess the old bod just said enough is enough.
DEAN WE CAN DO IT!
oh and forgot, I got 10 hours of sleep last night. Maybe that helped too cause I sure needed it.
Dean
kateryna,
Sleep is one of the BEST ways to combat carb cravings!
Well... I did it!... I made it through DAY 2!
One more day and I can start my next challenge!
This 3 Day Challenge will remain... so that others can get through it and come join me on the next one!
We can ALL do it! Stick to whatever eating plan you have decided for yourself!
kateryna
Dean, you are one of those I admire, along with all the others like Susanne who fess up when they cave in. I'm a chicken. I run and hide, too ashamed to admit defeat. Then I reappear once I'm clean again. I suppose each of us deals with our addictions in our own way.
Susanne
Kateryna, I'm glad you're 'back'.
I agree that we deal with addictions in our own ways. There just is no one 'right' way. The important thing is that we try - and keep trying.
Success WILL be ours if we remain willing.
Heather
Ok, I'm starting over again, starting right now. I didn't just overeat today, I overate sugar too.
I ate so much chicken I thought I was going to puke so I switched to sugar. I ate rice krispie squares until I couldn't possibly eat another bite. No shit, I probably ate 15 squares, ice cream, apple pie etc....
And I still have the same stress as I did before I started eating and now more because I feel so disgustingly full.
Dean
Heather,
I'm so sorry to hear that! You can get back on track... I know you have the strength! We are all here for you!
As for me... I have done it! 3 days of sticking to plan!
Now I am moving on to an new challenge! You'all keep getting through this one, and when you do, come join me in my new challenge!
Heather
PMS should be kicking in in the next week, I'm f@%ked.
But dammit, I will try so hard to get back to carb control then work on portion control or whatever I can grasp at to get myself out of this hole.
In three days it will be Tuesday night, if my math is correct.... Sunday night, Monday night, Tuesday night doesn't seem so far off. Does it?
Dean
Heather,
Screw portion control! If you just eat the foods that are on your plan, you will be fine... cuz, eventually the hunger will subside when you are eating low carb. In the meantime, you will get AWAY from the foods that are off your plan... those are the foods that will do you in... cuz those foods are both antinutrient/no nutrient, seriously bad for you, and are the foods that are derailing your efforts!
Don't worry about amounts right now... just stick to the good foods that you know and love! At the very least, you will get healthy eating those nutrient dense foods (animal food). That is going to make all the difference in the world to how you feel and what your future eating will look like! Trust me. BTDT! I know I ate more calories today than I should have. I put butter in the bbq sauce for my ribs... and I ate a few more than I should have. BUT... I am OFF the donuts and cookies! I feel GREAT about that! My body is just wanting to get in all this good food after days and days of binging on all that sugar!
And, yah... three days are EASY to get through! It went by in a flash... just like the next four days will to complete the 7 Day Challenge I just started!
kateryna
Heather I agree wtih Dean. Yesterday I ate a bit more calorie wise, like bacon, eggs, beef liver, cheese, but I dropped 4 lbs overnight of those I had gained last week (was up to 210 now I'm 206)
Well day 2 (yesterday) successfully completed. I'll be home all day today and there are absolutely no cheat foods here
So Dean should I join your 7 day challenge or complete my 3 day challenge? Decisions, decisions, decisions
Heather
Ok starting now!

Now that you got through the 3 Day Challenge successfully, please come join me on the 7 Day Challenge!
Heather

Ok, I made it through the night without sugar. I was sleeping most of the time, but hey, I must start somewhere.
Heather

Looking at my last post I can see the exact time I started, looks like 17 hours ago.

Good work Heather. Sleeping helps lots.
Heather
I'm still good!
Almost 48 hours....
I was white knuckling the cookie cravings earlier but just made myself a coffee with cream and sweetener. It helped!
Susanne
GOOD JOB....funny, that's exactly the 'fix' I make myself when I'm craving...coffee with cream. Works every time!!!
Dean
That is too funny... cuz I have used that same trick many times! Nothin' like a good cup of java!
Heather
I made it!
I wasn't hungry much through the day either until now. I just ate 11 eggs.
And all 11 were very low carb!

BTW, Heather...
I hope to join you in the 7 Day Challenge in a couple days!
Dean
Got through another day of eating on plan. One more day, and I'll be joining Heather!
Heather
Yeah Dean!
I can't believe how much better I feel after only a few days.
kateryna
Ok I completed day 2 relatively successfully. My soul has achieved some semblence of peace (regarding Mother) and my carbs are under 60 grams so I think I'm doing well.
Dean
Got through another day! Hooray!
Now I can head on over to the 7 Day Challenge...
kateryna
Ok just completed Day 2 successfully.
Heather
Still working on day 1, only a few hours left!
kateryna

Well I'm out again. Big tray of donuts in office today. Dean would have been very happy.

At this point, I'd have been very happy to pass them by! Feeling MUCH better without all of that stuff!
My overall moods have been getting better EVERY DAY! That is what I think about every time I see donuts now!
Heather
I finished day 2!
Heather
I finished day 3.
Hey, that means I graduate, again......

Alright!!!
I am outta this Challenge!
I made it 3 Days on plan!!!
I am gettin' very mellow on this diet! I am losing the anxiety along with the bloating that those carbs had given me!
I it!
Heather
Day 2.5!
Dean
Heather,
You must be up to 2.69 by now!
We should start a 2.69 Day Carb Addicts Challenge!
Now THIS just gave me a great idea!
Hell... why do we need a "60 Day Challenge"? Let's just "make it" a 69 Day Challenge!
Heather
Oh man, I need help, this is getting bad. I am hanging on (white knuckle) for dear, sugar-free, life!
Dean
Heather! Sweetheart! What is going on? Please post about it... rant about it! Throw the sugar out the fucking window! But... don't cave! If you can resist... resist!
Eat a peach! Drink some wine!
But... throw whatever refined sugar you have OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW!!!
Heather
I made it. I just went to sleep, that seems to help with the cravings..... Now I'm awake and it's bugging me again, but not as bad. I'm sipping on my coffee. I did think about getting into the wine last night but resisted that too.
Heather
I should be done my 3 days now, as well!

Heather.....I'm giving you a big hug, can you feel it?
Dean
Heather,
You are NO failure!
Don't beat yourself up! You will be fine. We are all pulling for you. Hang in there. It will all work out... you'll see.
Heather
I have been carb free this long, must be 24 hours now.....
Dean

Come on Heather you can do it and you will

Day 2... going strong!
Have only eaten a large, thick, raw kc strip with a little butter on it. It was so raw it was cold after barely searing it. It was so thick, the insides kept it cold. It tasted fine. I suppose I could have let it get up to room temp before searing it.
I have not been eating many fruits and veggies at all. Keep forgetting about that type of food!
jeff
Mmmmmm, seared meat with butter on it. My favorite.
Dean
Now I am going to eat some fried eggs in butter... with some no carb mayo on 'em.
Am I stuck in this carnivore eating forever?!
jeff
I never get tired of eggs, and I never get tired of raw beef. But then, I've never been a picky eater, which is probably what got me fat in the first place. Luckily, on very low carb, I can eat as much as I feel like.
Dean

I'm...

Day 2 for me. So far so good ...

Great job, Gazelle. Watch out for tomorow, though. Heather says day 3 can be rough. We figure because that's when your glycogen stores have been depleted and your body is screaming out for more sugar. Then it gets easier again. Just thought I'd warn you.
Gazelle
Thanks for the warning Jeff. I know it's going to be tough. Mentally preparing beforehand will help a lot, I think.
Gazelle
Day 2:
25g net carbs
48g prot
128g fat (80%)
I think as long as I keep my fat at 80% I'll consider it a success if I stay under 45 total carbs (The Optimal Diet way).
On to Day 3!
Gazelle
Day 3 is IN THE BAG.
On to bigger and better challenges!
