Make room for me. Day 18 here. First tier is 21 days, then 30 days then 69 days

Yesterday I had 2 chocolate covered strawberries. As near as I can figure, this ended 101 sugar free days for me. ( I had a small piece of birthday cake on my son's birthday in Oct.) I'm starting with the 69 day challenge because I really don't consider myself a carb addict, so doing 7 days, or 14 days, etc, is really not much of a challenge for me. So, today is day one of being sugar free!!!

There is no better incentive than having a Jedi Princess in front of me.
This is day 4.

Day 5. No problems.

Today is day 6.

Leftover prime rib, some cheese and sausage for lunch
Beef tenderloin will be dinner.

8 days gone. Nothing but meat, eggs, cheese, coffee and green tea.
|
jeff

Made it through day 9. No issues.

jeff

Monday was day 10. No problems.
|
jeff

Day 12 is just about history. I just finished supper, which was 1.12 pounds of raw beef, so I don't plan on eating any more the rest of the evening. Oh yeah, I had a bit of pepper jack cheese too.
|
jeff
|
I just had supper, so day 13 is efectively in the books. I had 2 big hunks of virtually raw beef tenderloin, each about the size of my fist. Not sure of the weight, since I cut them off a whole tenderloin.

Yummy Jeff!
I am still here, day 38. I tried to cheat today but couldn't, so I ate pecans. I seriously couldn't cheat, I was trying.

Ok Neil. No kidding, that is awesome Dean. You must be feeling great at this point. How's your energy?
|
Dean

39 DAYS finished!
My energy is fine. But, my weight is stalled. It's all the animal fat. Gotta go get some more vegetation. I ran out of fruit quite a few days ago, and it's just too cold and snowy to mess with shopping for more. I've been real close to zero carb for almost a week now, but with all the animal fat, my calories have been way too high. I gained a couple pounds like three weeks ago, and have held onto them ever since.
Back in my paleo days, I lost consistently, cuz my calories were low. I ate all the fruit (and even nuts) that I wanted. I ate lots of bison stew with veggies (cooked in a crock pot). I'd put some butter in when reheating. But, bison and deer meat are lean compared to the beef and chicken I am eating now. So, fewer calories meant quicker weight loss. I could have lost even more if I'd cut out the fruit and nuts. But, this high fat stuff is not working when I have so little left to lose (only about 17 lbs of body fat to lose). I need to fill up on leaner meats and some veggies and even some fruit, I guess.
|
jeff
|
You probably are close enough to your ideal weight that you do need to start watching calories. I think you mentioned in your journal that you are probably getting between 3000-4000 calories per day. I got to around 12% bodyfat eating about 2200-2500 calories per day. Of course, I exercise a lot, too.

I only ate chicken wings and a chicken breast yesterday. I should be on my best dietary behavior for Lent and work with my elimination diet.
Last year I started the M&E diet as a Lent challenge (March 1) and I'm still following it. I thought it was the strangest, weirdest, oddest thing to go without fruit and veggies but tried it as a 40 day challenge and it changed my life for the better.

DAY 45 is coming to a close!
Went out yesterday for Alaska King Crabs. I ate some strawberries and a little cantaloupe. There was SO much desert there! MAN! I had cravings the rest of the night! Luckily I had that Creamy Coconut Custard with berries in it. That stuff did the trick! It is like eating pudding or ice cream, I'm serious.

No, I still get cravings but I guess it's way easier than my first sugar free week. I was smelling cheesecake with strawberries yesterday, the thought of eating dairy turned me off.

Day 18 for me...it's tough but I've brought my super glue with me so someone can help glue me to my seat when I start sliding off!! |
Hey great, I was getting kinda lonely in here. In addition to super glue, I find it essential to always have plenty of legal foods in the house. I don't get cravings really, but I do get hungry sometimes. I tend to be a late night snacker......if I'm up past about 11 PM, I do get hungry. It's easier to make good choices if I have things like cheese, left over meats, or maybe some sausage around. Since I have a wife and 3 kids who do not eat like I do, there is always plenty of processed, carby crap around.
|
Billi-Jean
|
I get the late night munchies too!
I'm usually up 'til 3am or later, working or studying, and late at night is when I used to grab carrot sticks or apples or all that 'low cal' stuff to just mindlessly munch on.
Now I've always got eggs and cheese on hand and cans of salmon and sardines for 'emergencies'...actually I just fried up 3 eggs and some sardines in lots of butter with some oregano -seems to have done the trick, thank goodness!
Boy, it's lucky you don't suffer from cravings! I really feel for everyone who does and has to get accosted by temptation every time they open the fridge or pantry. I live alone and got rid of all the carby stuff when I started zero carb. That way I can't grab something in a moment of weakness before I've really realised what I'm doing!
|
jeff
|
Yes, I feel very lucky that I don't get cravings....and I feel bad for those that do. I am very content to eat a piece of cheese or some meat instead of something carby.

Do you guys ever have any sugar substitutes, or do you stick with 'sweet' free, as well as zero carb?
