A little about meI realized that I'm flooding this board with posts and I haven't introduced myself!
I am a 33 yo mom of 4 who is finally making the permanant switch to mostly meat, eggs, fat. I still use cheese, lettuce, olives, and avocados but mostly as condiments. For years I have "lowcarbed" on and off, but mostly off!
Anyway, I am an optimist at heart, but in recent years have turned more negative. I think the stress of a larger family and the disappointment with my weight have alot to do with this. I am hopeful for the future though....that my kids will turn out ok in every way (physically, spiritually, emotionally) and that mom will finally lose this extra weight and will once again be hot!
Some unusual and not so unusual facts about me......
*I am the biggest James Taylor fan!
*I love hiking
*I hate cooking and cleaning, but since I have 4 kids have to do these many times daily (could this be why I'm turning more negative?)
*I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up
*If I could anything, I'd go back to school and study art
*I am about to start homeschooling my youngest 2 children (8 and 11 yo)
*I named my 11 yo after a John Denver song I love, not after the first gospel like everyone thinks
*At one time in my life, very long ago, I made all my clothing and wore a head covering.....very similar to the way mennonite women do (this is a long story and I seldom ever talk about it)
*I have auburn hair
*I actually love my name (Shae) and wouldn't change it
*I have been happily married for over half my life (I know! )
*I'm an ENFP (myers-briggs)
*When all my kids leave home, I'd love to take a 6 months and hike the Appalachian Trail
Ok, now that I've introduced myself.....I'd LOVE to hear some quirky facts about all of YOU!

Welcome, Shae! I'm new here, too.
I'm taller than you, but it's just because I have longer legs! We have nearly the same weight, BF% (Mine is 36.2%) and weight loss goals. I like hiking, too. I forget what all my MB letters are except the E. Maybe we can journey together!
(Even though I love cooking and hate sewing.)

hi there. you should not have mentioned the head covering thing....it makes me so curious. i too love to hike and have dreamed of hiking the pacific crest from canada to mexico. sometime in my 30's i even planned it out. i may not make it but the app might still be doable. i'll be ready when you are!! being married half your life at 33 sounds amazing. makes me wonder more about the head covering....how does your family feel about your way of eating? are they on board? oh and JAMES TAYLOR? that'd be more my speed since i'm much older than you...i love all types of music but am a rocker for sure. you are probably wondering what makes me so nosy....i get it from my cats. welcome, from one newbie to another.

Hi ladies!
Vesna, girl I would take those extra leg inches anyday! Yes, it will be very nice to stick together on this weight loss journey.
Jem, I ended up in this Christian shelter home when I was a young teen and that's when my life really changed for the better. I gave my life to God and followed this group of people in terms of ideolory and dress/conduct. That's where I met my dh. We left LONG ago (I was 19-20), but I still look back fondly on these early days.
Yeah, I LOVE James Taylor! I have such eclectic musical taste....everything from Christian folk, James Taylor, Alison Krauss, Tom Petty, to melodic soul like Sade, Alicia Keys, and Mary J Blige. I think the only genre of music I really dislike is graphic "gangsta" rap. I find it repulsive and inane.

You sound very similar to me. I think everything is quirky about me, where would I begin?

Heather, you and me both. Maybe you could talk about the things that are normal about you.

Hi Tooshea!
You've had an interesting life so far! I was a homeschool mom for many years - it's a great way to give your kids a fabulous start at a well rounded life. Do you know what type of homeschooling you want to do?
I'm curious, what's ENFP?
Here is my musical contribution (though I do feel I should post it under the exercise section!)

OMG I HATE THOSE TYPES OF TESTS!!!! I took one in Speech class last year and then we had to write our final paper on how the test showed who we are. Instead I wrote how the test was unable to accurately portray someone because of the variables involved in decision making. An example would be the test question I just looked up online:
"You are more interested in a general idea than the details of its realization."
What idea are we talking about? How my computer guru son solved a math problem that would make my eyes roll backwards in my head? That one is a no-brainer - give me the big picture. How the project I'm working on is going to come together? I want plans, elevations, specs, shop drawings, schedules, pictures, etc. So how the hell can I answer that question? And even if I do, how does that accurately portray who I am? I am not static. When another teacher had the bright idea to use the same test I refused to do it.

Heather, despite some people's perception of things , they really don't change. You should try to get a full description of ISTJ. If you took the test the way it is supposed to be taken, that description will blow you away, since it will describe you very accurately. Of course not 100%, but you will say, yah, that does fit me really well.

INFJ. My scores currently work out to: I (56%), N (50%), F (75%) and J (33%).
This is quite different from when I first took the test 18 years ago...I was off the chart "I" and "N", , more of a T than an F. Interestingly, I was definitely more of an "P" than a "J" then as well. Things change. ;)
Anyone that wants to take an online version of the test, try this link: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

Thanks for that link, Susanne.
Mine came out ENFP again. I've taken so many different versions of this test, and it always comes out that way.
I should say that this personality type stuff doesn't really change that much, although, it might a little. It may be affected by environmental events, but fundamentally it is probably pretty hard wired into our genes, and manifests itself through interaction with the environment. There have been a lot of recent studies that show that people's genetic makeup will cause them to seek out certain environmental influences. So, it's like nurture via nature, rather than nature vs nurture. Although, sometimes the environment may not afford one the developmental opportunities to become a certain way at a certain time. So, I suppose they could change over a long period of time.
What I found most interesting when first getting the "official" M-B test done, was the very long document I was given about ENFPs that described me so well. It was so utterly amazing.
http://www.humanmetrics.com/vocat...&SN=-50&TF=-62&JP=-22
Don't see any engineering, biochem, or medical careers listed there.
With that documentation I received, as far as careers, a vast majority of ENFPs go into some type of counseling field, which is pretty much where I'm headed right now.
