Anyone still a Classical Bear-Style Zero Carber?
Does anyone feel the need not to apologise for eggs, cheese and the occasional herbs?
I'm tired of the cult thinking.
I love my eggs and cheese :)
I really think Bear was onto something because his diet is enjoyable.
I'd like to know what he thinks about fasting too, I'm pretty sure he eats a regular 2-3 meals a day.
Look, someone wants to fast okay..... but let's not all sit around in a circle drinking the koolaid.... let's think for ourselves!!
I'm been able to up my fat dramatically with fatty cream cheese. I have it at lunch and get to that full feeling I rarely have. I'm dropping the weight whilst overeating!!!! Yes an obese guy is stuffing himself at lunch almost to the puking point with fat.....and losing weight!!!

I don't think Bear really has an opinion on fasting. I think he did mention that his way of getting more muscular was to eat quite often throughout the day, though. So, for working out, I think he prefers eating more often over fasting.
While this board is dedicated to Bear for the mind altering stance he took at ALC, as well as back in the 60s, with his kitchen clean supply of mind altering chemistry, this board is not and has never been about ANY experts, gurus, mystics, or messiahs! While some sheeple may be drawn into certain cults to blindly worship and follow some self-appointed figure head of (name your movement or WOE), the Bus has nothing to do with that.
The Bus encourages experimentation, discussion, exploration, and participation in the process of discovering what is right for each of us. Diversity is not only respected, but, cherished. One can elect to pass on fasting or cardio or eating naked rolls of Walmart ground beef or whatever they are not interested in. If members wanna discuss grass-fed vs. grain-fed animal husbandry, the historical (and present) basis for our current food supply, or the latest propaganda from whatever corporate or government backed "study", or what have you, they are encouraged to do so. There is no Carnivore Council waiting in the wings like Big Brother that will decide for you whether your thoughts are in focus.
And, no matter what is posted, anything that is not appropriate will be addressed in private. There is no need to openly ridicule anyone on this board. People deserve to be treated with respect. All members on this board currently have the exact same status, which is full privileges, and that is the way it will be kept at all costs. So, carry on, and pass the Kool-Aid, cuz, I'm gettin' pretty thirsty.

Science backs up the Bears claims......so does history, it seems.
I believe the controversy comes from the sheeples (yes, I use that word too Dean) inability to go against the status quo.....even if the status quo is flawed.

Dean

Yes, Alex, the "status quo" at some places is pretty flawed, huh, Dave?

I read every one of those Bear posts.
And his way of eating really seems to satisfy me. You know, eggs, cheese, cream and fatty meat.
It's all good.
That doesn't mean that I have given up chocolate. Not even for Lent. I gave up wine for Lent.

I agree with you, Dave.... I love my eggs and cheese too!
As a matter of fact, my fav breakfast lately is this:
Take a non stick pan, melt butter in the bottom and crack 3 eggs in the pan. Fry the eggs in butter on medium low to low temp. Sprinkle eggs with your fav spices/herbs and Bam it a couple times with grated Parmesan cheese. Then pour some HWC around your outer circle. The HWC/parm/butter will make an Alfredo sauce flavor with your eggs. Cook eggs until done-- and even throw a little fire in with your fav hot sauce. Enjoy!!

Hey, no cult thinking for me, and no feeling a need to apologize.
I eat the things that make my body feel good, and what I think will keep me healthy. End of story. I do find that I have to eat less than some if I really want to drop fat. I wish that I could eat more and still lose, but experience has shown me that I can't. I am glad that Dave and others can, though.
I simply am not one to change how I do things just because one "expert" thinks a certain way. I like to decide for myself.
BTW, I love eggs, cheese, spices, and butter
Dean- I loved your post. Sheeple...

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.....what other people eat.
I do what works for me, and that often evolves and changes...as long as I am happy and like my results I just keep on keepin on...
And my bacon and eggs and cream in my tea were delicious this morning.

Woooohoooo! Dean you go boy!
I am doing basically "Bear" - ish in that my carbs approach 5-10g per day including those coming from eggs and cheese. I don't do too much cream though, just cuz until I can stay home on a weekend when we get our raw milk drop, I refuse to use store bought cream with all of the additives and crap in it, like carageenan and skim milk solids.
I love it here for the record! :D
|
y0u

My regular grocery store has their own brand of heavy cream with no additives, and so does a local supplier.

y0u are so lucky! LOL! Every brand of cream here has an ingredient list of at least 4 (count them) FOUR items...MINIMUM. Can you believe that crap? It's almost as if it should read "cream-like" product.

"cream-like" product
I like the sound of that!

Pooti, that is indeed sad... When you get your real cream, you have to get one of these.....They can be devilishly fun
|
Dean

I'm afraid to even ask what that device is!

There is an explanation at the back of the bus.

There's always an "explanation" at the back of the Bus.

I'm trying to imagine the uses for that white attachment.

I can imagine several!

There's more? Let's see.....several times several equals................

I don't even know what I am suppose to do with some of these things??? Any ideas???

Have y0u been rummaging through Suzanne's toy box?
I thought I heard a buzzing sound in here.

Umm... Ouch.

Yes, some of the attachments look like they'd be painful for the type of things I was imagining.

I still eat eggs and I am on the fence about cheese. I also use seasonings like sea salt, some pepper and garlic once in a while. I don't drink coffee, never have. I also eat bacon and salami once in a while too. I started zero carb January 2 and to date, I have lost 29.4 pounds so I am excited. My blood pressure is back to normal and I'm off the meds and my blood sugar is getting down to normal. (I was diagnosed as T2 diabetic in August.) Fooled them.

Great job Kim. 29 pounds in 2 months is awesome! Not only are you losing weight, but you're getting healthier. Keep it up!

Holy crap Batman!!! 29.4 pounds in 2 months!! And I thought I was doing well with 15. Great job Kim!!!!!! Keep up the good work.

And the other good thing is that usually at my weight, in the past it takes a 20 lb loss to reduce 1 size in clothing and I have reduced 2-3 sizes in pants with just the 29 pound loss. I feel stoked and it really is inspiration to keep going.

That is one thing I love about this WOE. Over the last 6 months I have lost a total of 30 pounds (15 in 2 months). But I have also lost 15 inches, that is why I try not to let the scale rule me, and only weigh once a week.
|
jeff
|
I have noticed that about this WOE as well. The inches seem to drop alot faster for the same amount of weight, compared to the old low fat, low cal diets.
|
Kim

I only weigh once a month. I don't want to deal with the natural ups and downs the body has.

Actually, the inches drop a lot faster even than on low carb. When I talked about losing a size for 20 lbs of weight loss, I was on an induction carb level at about 10 or less than 10 a day. I was eating some greens with salad dressing and green beens or steamed broccoli and the Atkins protein shakes. So just eating meat has really made a difference.
