Bad Pork?Approx. two weeks ago I bought some pork ribs and threw them in the fridge (they always have a long date). I usually make them about a week or so after buying but it slipped my mind.
I just pulled them out and the use by date is 7-16. However, when opening there was a bit of a funky odor. Nothing real offensive but definitely noticeable and not the usual. I inspected the meat and the red is still red and there are a few bits that seem a little browner than usual.
I chalked it up to the liquid in the cryovac (blood?) and put them in the oven. My normal method is 300 degrees for two hours.
Now I'm sitting here wondering if this is all a mistake - will I be puking all night just to salvage a couple of bucks?
Advice & opinions appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you freeze them or just refrigerate them?
If they smelled funny...doesn't matter, I wouldn't use them!!

They were just refrigerated.
They are almost done and smell really good now...
I hate to waste them but you are probably right.

I decided not to eat them - I'll throw em out in the woods and I'm sure some hungry animals will be grateful.
That big Ribeye was calling me anyway
Thanks Bobi - I think I just needed a little push of reason.

Suffering with nausea/vomiting...stomach-ache, imagined or otherwise, really not worth the savings in the long run!!! You might just get sick because!! Sorry, MM...I just am careful with "funky" smelling meats!!
