Blood Test ResultsI almost forgot to post these here. These are my two blood test results. The first is five week after eating raw animal foods and high saturated fat. So they were probably even worse before I started!
The second is at 19 weeks eating raw animal foods. Sorry about he poor columns.

Liver function improved quite a bit.

I have effectively beaten the metabolic syndrome on this diet. I have no more abdominal fat, no more hypertension, no more low HDL. I still have slightly elevated triglycerides, leaving me with one marker of metabolic syndrome. Three markers are needed to be diagnosed. I'm confident my values will continue to improve. All digestive problems have vanished.
Most importantly, I feel GREAT! Lots of energy!

Hi Craig, do you only eat beef (and a little organs every now and again)? Do you chew and spit out the tough? What about high meat?
I have noticed a big difference when I have beef on one day and horse meat on the next. Beef is more acid and low in glycogen; it seems to activate my digestion and ma weight goes down (water because low glycogen?). Horse meat is 3 times higher in glycogen and I feel that this "expands"; weight gain (water because high glycogen?). Their is not the same "need" for a bowl movement like with beef.
Do you think that your body is used to beef; perhaps a different meat would show a different picture?
What do you think about glycogen in meat? Does a +/- glycogen make such a big difference? Does glycogen hold water back?
Perhaps Jeff can relate about drinking wine or even cream?

Outstanding results. Congratulations!
I'm curious - do you really care about your BMI? I find that to be a pretty useless measurement for anyone who has any decent amount of lean mass, like us carnivores.

Jeff, I notice a big difference in the way my body reacts to / metabolises the amout of glycogen in meat. I think this has to do with water (carbs hold back water = the body expanses) - I go swimming and notice the way I float!
I thought with wine and cream you are giving your body extra suger (as beef is low in glycogen / eggs may count more?). This does not seem to influence you?
Perhaps I am to sensitive- perhaps it's doing sport that make things more noticeable?
Well I will have to do meat rotation; I don't like to much suger - water...

No, these things do not seem to bother me. Even with wine and cream, I am still below 10g of carbs almost all the time.

Thanks everyone! Progress seems slower than I'd like but I'm still happy with the results!

I do have that checked, dean but it seems it only works when you reply to a topic not when you start one honest, I have it marked lol

The sale of horse meat is illegal in the U.S. but the glycogen in liver doesn't bother me. Eggs don't bother me either but dairy makes me very hungry.
I chew and swallow the grizzle in my meat and you are correct about my diet - mostly beef but some lamb with their organs and suet. I enjoy a little coconut oil for now.

What I did was clicked on "watch this thread for replies" on the bottom of the thread after I posted it. It didn't work.
I have now gone in and checked the "always notify me of replies I post in"
Hopefully that works but I have a feeling there may be a glitch in the software as Mina has also experienced this when making an initial post.

Sol, I find BMI useful as a shortcut to understanding a person's general build. If I tell you that my BMI is 21, you'll have a pretty good idea that I'm rather slim. If I tell you that I weigh 160, you'll have no idea if I'm chunky or lean unless you know my height.
I have no idea if there is any medical relevence to BMI, but it is a handy shortcut to visualizing a person's build if you've never seen them.

I weigh 161 pounds and I'm 5'5" and I'm 18% bodyfat according to skin caliper tests conducted by someone who has lots of practice. My BMI is 26.8.
I once weighed 154 pounds and was 9% bodyfat. My BMI then was 25.6 which is considered overweight. I was not overweight at 9% bodyfat.
BMI might be ok for the general population but I don't think it works well for lean people. Now, if you're trying to guess at someone's build it's probably not a bad guess that they won't have lots of lean mass if they're average Americans.

No argument from me Sol. But I think at 5'5" and 154 lbs even if your body fat was 9% you would have a thicker covering of flesh (in this case muscle) on your bones than I do at 6'1" at 160 lbs.
Your BMI of 25 would indicate to me that you fill out your shirt quite well, where my BMI of 21 would indicate that you can probably see my ribs.
I think you are absoloutely correct that BMI (or weight for that matter) doesn't say a thing about how much muscle vs fat you have - it only gives an idea of the thickness of the flesh (fat or muscle) covering the bones.

BMI doesn't take into account the muscle/fat ratio or frame/bone size of a person. I'm in the 24-25 range but yet very thin.
And this is the number the anesthesiologists use for surgeries.....
