Dean, I have a newbie question. I am not sure how you all count carbs here, as in how strict. Do you count things like herbs and garlic? I use Fitday for carb counts and it's very precise, and I don't believe in that net carb BS. Do you count coffee? How many carbs in the Kool-Aid?
I am asking because my challenge for February will be very low carb.
Thankyou fearless leader..or earless feeder...or whetever you are..
|
Dean
|
y0u count carbs just like y0u count cars. It's pretty simple, really.
Seriously, y0u can use FitDay or just guesstimate. Most people don't bother with counting the carbs in seasoning or ZC condiments that say 0 carbs on the label. Eggs and dairy and any rubbish vegetation are a little different, but, FitDay and those types of tools will do that job for ya.
The only thing y0u need to count with the Kool-Aid is how many liquid layers of sound/colors y0u walk through as y0u move to or from the back of the Bus.

I'm IN! :D
Hey one question? What about eating out? Like at our little neighborhood Mexican place where they cook everything from scratch or eating wings at Buffalo Wild Wings where they cut their own wings and I bring our own sauces?
They fry in lard but I'm betting it isn't the good stuff. Is that an off plan eating event?
Here are my rules:
All foods should be as natural, fresh, and whole as possible. Animal fat should be kept high, and carbs kept under 20g per day.
Allowed
* any part of any animal
* eggs
* dairy
* vegetation
* olive/nut oil

Pooti, its up to you.
I still eat McDonald's double cheeseburgers from time to time. Of course, I order them plain and throw away the bun.

Amanda,
You could perhaps cut down every day, until you barely did any. That's how I got off the java. I quit wine cold turkey, but, I had already cut way back, so it was not too bad. There is an initial withdrawal period for anything you have developed a habit for, but, you'll get through it, and then you won't miss it anymore.

Day one.
Brekkie, chuck steak about 1/2 lb., decaf with heavy cream, water.
No lunch.
Dinner early: a huge pork chop, glass red wine, water.
I may start eating three meals again. Even tho I am not particularly hungry I wonder if it might be a way to jump start things. I sometimes think I don't have enough calories per day. Some days it's really light eating and other days it's huge.
Time to do some experimenting I think. And what better time than the shortest month of the year?

Oh and another thing. Why do people keep equating eggs as dairy?
A moderator at another forum was telling a newbie never to eat dairy without meat when she mentioned eating eggs for breakfast.
Eggs are very young chickens. I would class them in the meat category.
Cheese is dairy.
|
jeff
|
I dont know.....it seems like you see that quite often, though. Maybe it's because eggs are sometimes found in the dairy area of the supermarket?
|
Lynne
|
y'know miriam... i had that very argument with a nurse in an ER once..
she told me not to eat any dairy, "and that includes eggs...." when telling me what to avoid..
i said to her, "eggs come from a (and i made the chix noises) not dairy."
is it because they sell it alongside milk and cheese?
because it's refrigerated?
|
Miriam
|
I wish I knew. It just seems so strange to me.
All dairy products come from milk. Now if a cow started laying eggs I might change my mind.
After I got over the grossness of it.

Delicious, though I do feel hungry right now and it is only 4:00 am here. So the marinade must have carbs or something in it that triggers hungry.

Well, today, I got some discomfort in my gut. So, the verdict is still out whether I'm gonna keep this stuff for the long run. Of course, it might help if I refrained from eating slices by themselves! I need to just have melted cheese in food, not eat cheese by itself.

I have adjusted to adding dairy back in, but it took 3 or 4 days of upset tummy and stuff, it's all good now. I love Chevre
