Greetings, got meat?I've been lurking on this forum for a couple weeks and needless to say, it has completely changed the way I look at nutrition. I found this forum through a link to Bears thread and after reading it, I just HAD to know more.
A little about myself:
I live in Los Angeles and I am a broadcast engineer (Same profession Bear had in his youth!) My life has thus far been a search for knowledge and usually, when I come upon a subject matter that catches my eye, I jump head first into it. This is what has happened in regards to the carnivore way of life.
I've always thought there was something strange about people who speak of meat and fat in a negative sense. I mean, that is what our ancestors based their diets on, right? I'm also a big skeptic when it comes to any "mainstream" social belief structures, especially when they involve health and nutrition.
In a nutshell, I like to find things out for myself.
I've already read many threads in this forum as well as some of the sites that are linked from here like the Hyperlipid blog. I've actually printed out a bunch of stuff that Dean has written on this forum too. Needless to say, my world has been turned upside down! (in a good way)
I am hopping on "the bus" because I am almost 100% convinced this is the right way to eat. I have been a carb addict most of my life (probably why I'm 30 lbs overweight at the moment!) Bread has been my drug of choice. However, I am proud to say that as of last Monday, My daily carb intake has been around 40 grams or less. I am commited to do this because I am already starting to feel some benefits, mainly in regards to my post meal energy level. Before, after a typical meal which included around 200 grams of carbs at LEAST, I would always feel tired and sluggish. Now it is just the opposite. Since Monday I've been eating eggs, bacon, steak, chicken and veggies along with one low carb tortilla per day. I hope to get the carbs down to 20 or less grams in the next couple weeks. Man, it's strange but I already really love eating this way!
I think I was meant to be a carnivore!

to the Bus, Alex!
I'm glad you have found us!
Now, take this red pill and have some Kool-Aid. You can rest awhile in the back of the Bus until the effects wear off.

Welcome Alex!!
You're in the right place!
Congrats on the success so far.
Yeah, it was quite a shock to me when I started delving in to the mainstream 'nutritional dogma' and discovered that it was founded on unsubstantiated 'science' and on memes, that were themselves more a reflection of social beliefs than on actual facts!
Looks like you've found a good seat on the bus! Now pass that kool-aid.
