Hello from Australia

I have been doing Atkins since 10 September 2005. I lost 29.5 kgs in 7 mothsn but after a car accident in late March have been playing footsies with about 3 kgs and am currently about 104, I'm aiming for 62-64 lgs.
I put on all my weight after an accident and, after 2 years, operations to both Achilles tendons. My favoured exercise of walking (5-8 kms daily) was denied me due to the injury and after the operation, due to my weight gain, it was just as hard and painful as before! So I just got fatter and fatter.
At 131 kgs, and in constant pain from ankles, knees and back, I finally decided to act. I had picked up the Atkins book and had a read, thought (idly) I could do that, and then just sat on it - the information and my fat bum!
Then, after 15 months on the dole, I got a job! I started Atkins the same day and have never looked back. I no longer have pain, my blood pressure has gone from sky high (3 eye bleeds during coughing episodes when I had the flu last May) to 110/76, I have so much energy I can harldy stand still, and I will never ever go back to eating lots of carbs.
Unfortunetely the community association I was working for has closed due to lack of funding but I hop to get something else soon.
I found yopur board via a link from LCDave's Aussie low carb forum wher I'm also a member. I tried the carnivore thing but for the first time in my life iI suffered from constipation. Not nice! SO I just keep it as low carb as possible.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi, Odille! Welcome

I'm so glad you've made it here! It sounds like you've been through a lot, but hopefully things will change for the better soon.

Lovely cat, btw. Is that a Himalayan? I have a tortie that looks very similar. You're in the company of many cat-lovers!

I see you've posted quite a few things already, which is awesome! Sunny

Hi, Odille! Fancy meeting you here! Now that you have hopped on the bus, we can take this ride together!

Thanks for the welcome, folks.
The cat is my beautiful Himalayan, Zoe. She is 23 years old! We call this her Queen Victoria pose (as you can see, she is NOT amused!). I took it just after Raymond, the youngest of the tribe, tried to play with her tail! Not permitted uinder any circumstances. Boy, can she hiss!
The cats, in order of acquisition. We have Zoe, next came Marmaduke, a marmalade tabby resuced after being abandoned by some neighbours who moved away; Fan Fan, a long haired tortoiseshell whose owner got a new job and decided she couldn't be bothered with a cat anymore (huh??); Raymond, a cream tabby (mostly) Oriental; and Zafira, a seal point Siamese. Raymond and Zafira came from the local RSPCA shelter.
They are all inside cats, I have built them a cattery from 3 garden arches and weldmesh panels and wire netting, it has a tree and 3 benches in it and they love it.
Some pics of the cats and cattery are at www.photobucket.com/Analog6 and click on the cats album.
