I never met an animal I wouldn't eat

Hello. My name is Cody and I found out about this magical place because Dean posted on Jimmy Moore's forum.

I'd heard about Atkin's Fat Fast before and I'd also read about Stefansson's 5 years of nothing but meat when he lived with the Inuit, but I had it hard wired into my head that I needed vegetables to be healthy. No more!

I read all of Bear's information that Dean so graciously posted, and I also read most of the posts in the Metabolic ward and decided to give it a shot. I've had a hard time getting less than 15 or 20 g of carbs per day, because I love dairy (Cheddar Cheese is my weakness), eggs, and bologna. I do shoot for at least 80% fat, though, and I've been pretty successful there. I have a blog at http://fatboymuscleman.com and that has a link to my fitday page, where anyone can see what I weigh and what I'm eating.

If anyone has any recommendations on the fattiest cuts of meat that can be commonly found at say Walmart, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm also into Intermittent Fasting, not so much for the weight loss but for how awesome it makes me feel, for the health benefits, and so I don't have to worry about food most of the day.

I'm still drinking coffee, iced green tea, and energy drinks, but plan to cut back. We'll see how that works out.  Devil

Also, I'm recently back on the wagon after taking basically the entire month of December off of low-carbing. I felt like total crap for the entire month. It has been a week, and I've lost 5 pounds. If you look at my fitday entries, you may be surprised to see how many calories I ate and still managed to lose weight.  Yup

I look to shooting the bull with everyone here and thanks to Dean for showing me where the Magic Bus Stop was!
Dean

Welcome to the Bus, Cody!

Isn't IF fantastic? Cool

Chuck-eye steaks are pretty fatty. So are pork steaks.

Good to have ya aboard!

Welcome, Cody.  Nice to see another midwesterner here.  Looking forward to getting to know you better.
Pooti

Heya Cody and welcome!

Dean said chuck, and I love that, especially as potroast and hamburger!

I also love beef shortribs. Another type of slow roasting thing with some water and a low oven. Then drink the broth and eat the meat and fat!! Yummy. It's cheap here: $2.50/lb the other day.

I also love the little boneless beef riblets which is cut from somewhere around the rib area.

Brisket is just ok, I think the fat tastes different.

My all time favorite though is ribeye! Suhweeeeet!

Hope you enjoy it here. I'm new too!
Dean

Pooti,

Have you ever had chuck-eye steaks? They are more fatty (and tasty, IMO) than rib-eye. They're also cheaper. They call them "spencer" steaks here, and they have other names for them in other places. That's true for many cuts of meat, though.
Pooti

Dean - I am gonna look for them when I go hunting this week! :) I have seen them (vaguely remembering) but can't remember where or when and I didn't know whether they would be good or not. I'm excited to find them!

Are they like a flatiron steak by any chance?
jeff

No, nothing like a flatiron steak.  At least not the ones I've seen.
Dean

They're small. About half the size of a ribeye. Ask the meat counter. They'll know where they are. Chuck-eyes. I've got about 40 left in my freezer. I really should start a Chuck-Eye Challenge in the Ward. Wink

Cody-- Welcome.  We have a lot in common.  I  love using IF , am a  weight lifter, and I am from Iowa as well.  Cool.  Cool

Meat suggestions:  brisket, fatty roast, boneless ribs.  I often just hunt through what they have on sale, and go with that.
Cody

Thanks for the welcome all!

The ground chuck gave me a great idea. Meatloaf! I can make it with pork rinds and eggs and maybe some Heinz One Carb ketchup. That would bump up the carbs a little bit, but I kinda miss meatloaf.

Do you guys ever lift or exercise in the AM while you are fasting? I haven't tried it yet, but I like exercising in the morning, because it makes me feel so good.
Heather L

I do cardio and weight lifting both while in the fasted state.  I work out in the morning (no breakfast).   I have no lack of energy, and actually prefer doing it fasted.
Dean

I'm gonna start doing that, myself. Thanks, Heather. Cool
jeff

I also prefer exercising in a fasted state.  I never have a problem with lack of energy.
