I was browsing the BFL website last night and was amazed!

How do these people transform in merely 12 weeks????

Ok my ?s for you all are.......

*Is it really possible to transform in such a way in such a short time? (3 months)

*Is it mostly the workouts?

*Could one "copy" BFL, but just substitute high fat, moderate protein?


I  feel as though I've given up in so many ways and I'm only 34!  I suppose I was looking at the before and after pictures for inspiration. I'm telling you, if they could bottle motivation, I'd buy it!

It might be possible, but as I remember it they are sending those pictures in as part of a contest.  There is no way to know what they have done to increase their odds of winning.  Anything that involves winning a prize can lead to extreme measures.

I tried it and it was good, but not "miraculous".

I'm about 60 days in doing the P90X series of workouts.  Started at 180lbs and am now 165.  My waist was 38" and is now 33".  Arms and chest a little bigger, legs not so much.  I would post pics but I don't have access to them from this computer.

I've been taking it easy though, it took me 90 days to complete 60 days of the workout.  I think most people can make an impressive transformation if they go from hi-carb eating couch potato to lo-carb and exercising regularly.  If you exercise with heavy weights and high intensity, you can make an even bigger transformation.

P90X does take some room in your schedule though.

UncleSnicks....Those are great results! I'm assuming you are eating high fat, mod. protein?

Mostly.  Occasionally I will have some vegetable matter, mostly due to cooking for my fiancee who can't survive on zero carb.  I had  my protein too high for the longest time and didn't realize it.  I was using protein shakes and not paying attention.  Now I have started to add heavy cream to the shake to up the fat and as a bonus it tastes so much better.

for BFL to be a healthy plan, you'd have to dump all the processed stuff, (shakes, bars, etc). but bill phillips is part of that company so, of course, he makes money by hawking that stuff. anyway, that stuff tastes awful!  i do like the workout and it trains you to just get it done and not spend hours in the gym.

I use Biotest's Metabolic drive lo-carb protein shakes occasionally.  It's my form of fast food and while it's not as good for you as a rare grass finished steak, it sure beats a sugary snack.

Hi Shae, yea its possible, I use to work out at golds gym in venice and knew a lot of the figure and fitness girls, they are crazy and they diet hardcore, they get contest ready in 12-18 weeks, even when they're pretty out of shape though most stay within 15 pounds of their contest weight, anyways as the others have said you'd be surprised what you'd do for some extra cash or fame, I was once training with a trainer at Golds I lost 15 lbs the first month and through the second another 5, I got down didn't finish because I just couldn't take it anymore and I was satisfied enough but i remember I was doing an hour of morning cardio before eating, I'd eat 6 meals a day, than my first three meals were fat free protein like egg whites, and a starch like half a cup of oatmeal or 4oz yams, the last three meals were either fish, lean chicken or turkey and a cup of veggies and a couple of plain nasty whey protein shakes in between, ughh it was horrible plus 3 weight training sessions a week and than in the second month an hour of cardio in the evening as well as the morning one...its not worth it! im getting back down to that weight low carb and satisfied and without the crazy amounts of cardio, just pick up some weights throw in HITT maybe a session or two of regular cardio and relax you should get there, good luck

Sounds like good advice from someone who has been there. This whole "body building" thing does get crazy. It's an industry driven by the supplement companies. It loses it's focus on real health and gets into body image crap. This is something that can contribute to depressed and suicidal teens, trust me. I really respect the real body builders. There are still some out there.
