Adapaz, first, welcome aboard the Magic Bus! Second, your menu rocks! It doesn't get any more basic than that. If my conversion is correct, 500g of beef translates to about 1 pound. Do you feel satisfied eating that amount? You could probably eat more if you wanted to. But on the other hand, if that satisfies you, then it should be fine.

Looking forward to hearing more from you. Glad you joined us on your journey.

Well yesterday I went out with friends , we ended up at pizzeria Heart and at this point there was really nothing I could do, all thoughts of diet and zero carb vanished from my head and the only thing on my mind was the heavenly aroma coming from the kitchen. In the end I ate one very big pizza, had about 1,5 l of orange juice and lots of ice cream when I got home that I had been eyeing for awile but had no urges to eat until pizza shattered my resolve.

The weight is not up and I'm back on diet. I wonder how others deal with eating out and the temptations.
jeff

When I eat out I am always able to find things on the menu that are "legal" for me to eat. A pizza place is a little tougher. But, what I do is just eat the toppings off the pizza, and leave the crust. Of course, this means coming out of the closet with your friends, if they don't already know.

You know what though? People are happy to bend over backwards to accomodate vegetarians, why shouldn't we get the same consideration?

That is amazing, considering what you ate. Not that you'd gain much fat from that overnight, but usually that sort of eating would bring about a significant gain from water and glycogen. Perhaps you'll have a delayed reaction? Keep us posted.

So far I've been able to steer eating out situations to places that are not pizza/Italian restaurants. Just about everywhere else can get modified to accommodate zero carb or close. I especially like IHOP, they have a "meat eater's breakfast".
Adapaz

That's just the thing Jeff, there were "legal" things to order. In fact, when the decision was made to go to pizzeria I was not hungry at all and planned to order something from the barbecue but when we entered and the scent of pizza hit me... Confused Cravings have never worked so fast before. As for eating only toppings...I admire you Jeff, it takes one hell of a willpower not to eat the whole pizza. Cool

You were right about delayed reaction, I gained 1kg.

I had a feeling. The good news it's mostly water and glycogen and should be gone in a few days.

I took my kids to Pizza Hut once on a night when they had an all you can eat buffet. I just ate the toppings and left the crust. After taking away the second plate full of empty crusts, the waitress asked if there was anything wrong with the pizza. I just said, no it's fine. I'm doing Atkins and can't eat the crust. She just smiled and said, yeah, we get alot of that.
Adapaz

Yesterday I only ate in the evening, after 7 pm. I had 400g of ground beef with 30g of lard. In the morning I had 60g of vanilla flavoured whey.

119,4 kg (262 lb)

So, Adapaz,

How do you like IF? I gravitate to this so easily, I'm just not wanting to change it. I only hope it's healthy for me. Of course, the modern nutritionists and body builders would be screaming at me about now! LOL

That's how I usually know the best thing to do........hear what the "experts" have to say.....then do the opposite. More often than not, it works. Yup

Dean, IF seems natural to me as well. I think it's healthy, and even Bear said that there are many days where he eats only one meal. My only concern is about protein usability from one large meal. This is why I consume protein also in the morning. How long have you been doing IF?

Yeah you're right about modern nutritionists and like Jeff said it's safer to do the opposite of what they say. Smile

When I was working out intensly a few years back I was following a 5-6 smaller meals a day plan. I was always hungry, my schedule revolved aroud my meals and was either eating or thinking about food all day.

The most noticeable thing about being on zero carb is the amount of time I managed to free up during the day. And lack of dirty dishes. Grin
Dean

Ditto on the time and the dishes! Yup I too Heart that!

I've been doing IF for awhile now... a few months. But, I've always seemed to naturally eat this way. Have always kept my calories low because of this. Modern nutritionists have always preached that it's not healthy. But, yah... eating 11 servings of grains every day is! LOL

Today I had one meal... a large burger with some cheese and mayo. It was very fatty and filling. I did not eat it until about 8pm. I was working out before that, quite a bit. No hunger. ZC is great for that. But, even if I include some carbs, I have adapted myself to this IF thing so much, I never get any issues. I can handle carbs now without the blood sugar issues, because I'm a lot better with insulin sensitivity because of doing VLC for so long, and doing ZC for like 90 days straight awhile back. It's weird. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I have total control over my appetite and blood sugar.

I recently was eating really HC for a few days (for a certain test), but still included IF. During this time, just to check, I tried doing glucose tolerance type testing, and it came out unbelievable. It's great. I credit the IF as much as the ZC. I think IF is just as effective, if not more so, in reshaping/healing one's metabolism. Even if one cannot do ZC, they should get more and more used to IF. I think both ZC and IF have actual healing powers for our metabolism. So, just done for awhile gives us protection, and makes it possible to handle carbs better. Right now I'm back to doing ZC and IF (only going to try one meal a day, at night).

I think the more one can do ZC and the more they can do IF, the more their overall health will improve. I think it is the ticket to so much vitality. People talk about supplements and vitamins, etc. They don't hold a candle to what our body will do for itself with ZC and IF and sunshine and some exercise... any exercise you can do... just walking is great for moving that lymph around, which helps clean out the toxins. And, then the IF helps even more with that.

Keep us posted on your results with this, Adapaz.
Adapaz

As of today I'm going back on my 'almost IF'. I've been eating without a plan for the last few days and my carbs were much higher than I'd like which is the nice way to say that I was cheating. Help

The kind of cheating that most gets me annoyed at myself is the kind I commited yesterday. In the morning I had strong resolve to do ZC, a resolve that crumbled when, during a coffee on the beach, a cheese pastry was offered to me. It was pathetic because I didn't even try to resist. Mad This is something I am going to work on. Mental aspect of a diet, or indeed any difficult and challenging situation in life, where willpower and amount of sacrifice is needed. Frankly, if I can't summon enough strenght to resist a pastry what expectation can I have of myself to deal with actual life difficulties.

So today the menu is:

Morning

-2 scoops of whey

Evening

I'm going to cook about 400g of ground beef. When done I'm going to spread it in a baking pan and pour 2 eggs over it to make it stick together, then cover the top with cheese and bake for 10-15 min.

Cals for the day are 1500
173 g protein (more than I need but if Dr.Mike is to be belived not too much)
82 g fat
4 g carbs
Adapaz

Yesterday I didn't have any actual food. I wasn't hungry at all and only had 200ml whipping cream (4 carbs) and 2 scoops of whey.
Protein was only about 50 g yesterday, much too low and today I'm going to make sure I eat enough even if I have to force it.

Today's weight is lowest I've had in a while - 118kg (260lb).
