Mae's Journal

I better start one of these. Don't want anyone confused about what I am eating for the March challenge!

March 1-Meatballs: 1.25 lb ground beef (lean- can't find regular anymore); 2 eggs, dijon mustard (2 tsp), black pepper, garlic powder. Made into meatballs and dropped in beef broth. I ate half the recipe. I had 2 eggs in butter for supper. I drank about 3 liters of water (one had some lemon juice)

March 2- ( down 1 pound) I had 1/4 serving of the meatballs for breakfast (+ broth). I took some chicken wings in butter and hot sauce to work and ate those ( I cooked a 3 lb package and ate a little over 1/3, but I shared some with a co-worker). I ate the rest of the wings when I got home. They were darn good! Waaaay too many calories. At least 3 liters of water

March 3- (gained about half a pound- darn wings!!) 2 X-l eggs soft cooked with butter added for breaky (at work); the rest of the meatballs for lunch (+ broth), and 2 more eggs in butter for supper. Lots of water. I cooked a meatloaf for tomorrow. 1.25 lb ground beef, dijon, one egg, black pepper, garlic.

March 4- (down almost 3 pounds) 1/4 of the meatloaf for breakfast. Cooked some blade steak in beef broth with garlic powder and Mrs. Dash. Lots of water

March 5- (down almost 2 pounds ) 2 XL eggs fried in butter for breaky. Cooking chicken wings in hot sauce and butter for tonight/ tomorrow. Actually I better get eating that meatloaf!

** also did slow burn today. Gotta get some more weights!

Welcome to Jounaland, Mae.  I think a journal is great for helping alot of folks stay on plan.

Hi fellas! Thanks for coming up and seeing me (big boys!)

I figure if I can't talk, talk, talk to you all in person the next best thing is to write, write, write! Don't worry about dozing off, I am sure I will still be here when you wake up!

Breakfast: 3 xl eggs with butter. Man, that unsalted stuff is soooo tasty! I always saved it for special cooking, but I don't think I am going back!

Meatloaf with butter for late lunch (it's 1:30). Maybe a snack of butter with butter later....Happy

My cousin is trying to get me into that Isagenix stuff. I try to be polite, but it is getting harder. She is totally against me eating all this meat. She says I need to "detox". Dude! I just spent 3 weeks on a juice fast! I think I pretty much took care of the detox for this season. I don't really see how this chemical concoction of isagenix can actually help people. It is no different than Slim fast!! At least she agrees with pretty much everyone here that coconut oil has had a bad rap and is actually good for you.

And she told me the bad news about the price of wheat going up...... LOL

I am interested in this Body For Life thing. Is it better than Slow burn? I like Slow burn, ALOT, I just want to make sure I am doing the best for me. I am getting some biceps and the back of my legs are rockin' from the squats. Just want to make sure it is enough for my health. All opinions are welcome!

People are looking at me funny at work. I am hoping that it is because they are trying to figure out if I have lost weight and not for any of the other more obvious reasons. My co-worker commented on my weight loss ; she hasn't seen me for a couple of weeks. She also does not like my full-on meat diet, but respects that it is really working for me and is supportive. That is nice. I think she hopes I will come around soon to her way of thinking (25 grams of fiber per day MINIMUM!) I will let her have her dreams...because I like working with her.

No weight loss today, in fact I went back up 2 pounds!! Curses on those chicken wings! So tasty, but so not in my calorie range. Got my fat % up to 73, but calories went over 1500, which is too much. I have to find a way to work them into my woe, but without eating so many. Or maybe without eating any other food in a day?

Hey Mae,

I'm glad you're posting menu's and recipes - very helpful to us boring people looking to leach ideas!

I'm just curious - does your meatloaf stay together? Every time I try to make one (low carb)  it falls apart on me - I've never used mustard though - perhaps it's a sticking agent?

I'm still adjusting to the unsalted butter - I was hoping to fall in love with it but I REALLY miss my salt...time should fix that though.

Catch ya later
Dean

Sounds like you're really doin' great, Mae! I often eat that unsalted butter right off the butter dish. I ate one whole stick in the last 24 hours! Shock

It's been six days into this no salt thing, and my taste buds are kickin' it. Cool That unsalted butter tastes so sweet and creamy! I love it. Heart I may be givin' up cream, not sure, but I'll hang with the butter for awhile.

At least there's something good about that cow pus. Wink

Hey MetalMama!

I was doing that juice fast in Feb. so I lost my taste for salt back then. As Dean said, unsalted just tastes creamy and sweet. I only regret that I have to pay so much for it compared to salted, but I have a trip to Costco coming up so I will look around there for a deal.

As for the meatloaf, I used 1 extra large egg with 1.25 lb of beef. I find that the important thing with making meatloaf stick together is patting the meat together for a minute or so before putting in the pan is key. Just keep moving it around with your hands (almost like working a dough), and keep patting it and you will see it start sticking together better. It does not all stay that way when baked, but most of it will. You don't need a bunch of stuff in there to hold it together. I add the dijon because I cannot find regular ground beef and the lean stuff just does not taste as good. It needs spices.

The only thing I miss on this clean challenge is eating nuts, and only because they are so easy to eat. But from what I read at that biblelife site, they are killer if you are trying to lose weight (which I am).

Day 7- (down those nasty 2 pounds that came back yesterday!) . This is why you should only weigh yourself once a week. However, I am obsessed- what can I say!

3 XL eggs, soft cooked for breakfast with 1TB of butter. I have to get the butter in and melting and mix up the eggs so no one at work sees it. I just do not want to defend myself at 8 am.

I went on a coffee (water) break at 10 am. My friend at work asked if I "would be eating a chicken leg for break!" I said "no, I probably would not be hungry until 2". She says" 2???" I said "well, maybe 1 or 1:30". She is just boggled at how this woe works. Can't argue with the results tho!

Even tho chicken wings are bad to me, I have to have some more. I will eat them this afternoon sometime; they are in the oven now. I gotta cook some more food. Gonna make some burger patties and another meatloaf to tide me over for my work week (ends Monday at 5 pm). I gotta see about cooking down some beef broth into a demi glaze for the loaf. That might be a nice change.

My neighbor came over last night with barley soup for me. I had to tell her that I am not eating barley this month. I don't know if I am supposed to take it and then lie about how good it was, or just be honest while I rebuff her. Catch 22.

I lost my taste for salt while fasting as well. I had no idea how much until I had cooked a package of brats. It was crazy salty, I could barely swallow.

Yah, that and all the spices and stuff in the last pack of hot italien made my face flush for 2 hours. I felt kind of sick. Good to know!

Sorry I steered you toward those things.

I can handle much more salt now than the beginning of February, it gradually comes back.
