My current feasting schedule...

Would be great to get your comments......seem to like the 'go without....hunt...and then reward yourself' type of eating pattern. (kind of earnt it then haven't you?  Wink)

Mon- approx 500g (1.1lb) raw cheese
Tue- 3-4 fresh mackerel
Wed- approx 1kg (2.2lb) steak, fried but virtually raw
Thur- approx large 18 eggs lightly fried/scrambled in butter
Fri- 2 large pots (250ml each) of raw double cream (whipped up just lovely)
Sat- approx 1kg pork belly roasted
Sun- steak again like Wed

Going heavy on the Clean & Push Press for exercise too...

Does anyone eat in a similiar way?

LOVE to feel full...........
Dean

Welcome to Journaland, Dane!

Yah, lately, I've been eating mostly beef, just once a day. I really feel great when I don't eat. But, when I do, if I keep it to meat and eggs, I feel best. Dairy is sorta a treat, cuz, I'm not as sure about it.

Great to hear about your eating. Is this pretty much how you've done it over the last 6 years? You sure like eggs, huh? Wink Do you ever eat raw eggs? How good do you think those would cover nutrient needs?

See ya around! Cool
Dane

Thanks Dean,

I've eaten a number of different 0 carb ways over the years, but once a day has always felt the best...both mentally and physically.

The going without (hunting) and then rewarding yourself (1 evening meal) IMO is a great way of incorporating ancient eating habits into our modern life style.

Like you I feel great when I don't eat. I can actually DO stuff in the day other than plan it all around meals etc.

Keeping it simple, like Bear has said so many times, is the way to go.....don't analyse too much.If your body and mind say yes then go with it!

Raw eggs?....cool, no problem (taste nicer cooked tho). A complete package of nutrient requirements.
Out hunting ...come across some bird eggs....carry them back or eat em there?......crunch crunch! Makes sense don't you reckon?

Everything raw is the real pure way to go....except vegetation of course. No No

My one downfall is dairy (I feel it's too recent an addition to our diet)...cos I am addicted to cream and eggs.

Even the tiny amount (all adds with my huge appetite) of carbs found in cream and eggs leads me to put weight on.

I can feel a pure beef/fat 'Hunter' regime coming on!..........

How much do you eat in a day Dean?......cos I can eat for England!!!!!  Happy
Dean

Dane,

I have been known to eat a lot of calories, just cuz when I do lots of cheese and heavy cream, I end up eating lots of fat, which is very calorically dense. It's also very nutrient dense, though. Because I have stalled so many times doing that, right now I am sticking to just beef, since I have a lot of steaks to eat up. I have been eating lots of t-bone steaks, and, now, strip steaks. I only eat one steak a day, late in the evening, and it is very tender cuz it's mostly raw. I love it with just some salt and pepper. I love not having to mess with food, and, I know how bad grazing is. It just can't be natural. Most of the time, humans, like all carnivores, should be fasting. Our bodies expect it, and will thrive on it.

I am keeping calories low right now, just to lose some body fat, but, later on I will probably eat more and work on building muscle. I am looking into getting some grass-fed bison to put in my freezer. I sure hope I can get a good deal on it. Once all the store-bought meat is gone, I will look into it. I may even get a pastured pig while I'm at it. That's the way I used to do it for years. It was Bear that said it wasn't necessary, but, I'm not too sure about that one. Either way, I'm gonna try to do it. I feel a lot better eating that meat raw. I love raw eggs, no matter the source. I can get really good eggs from my friends who have lots of free-range chickens that live on bugs and grass.

Whenever I eat ZCarnivore, I end up with hardly any appetite at all. Therefore, I really don't eat much, and, I don't even think about food. I prefer that to craving crap all the time, and all the anxiety that goes along with that. Carbs cause that mentality. That's always been my experience. The only reason I go back to eating carbs is out of pure self-destruction, bad choice of coping mechanisms for stress, and total addiction. I have come to find that, for me, carb addiction is the same as any drug addiction I have encountered in those who have those issues. I end up using carb foods for comfort, and, I am insanely driven to use them, even though I know how bad they are for me. This is classic addict behavior. I know I'm a carb addict who should simply avoid all carbs. I always feel so much better when I do. Yup

I'm so glad that you have started a journal and can share your long experiences with us. I'm sure that many will get a lot of good info out of it. Cool

Take care, Dane.

Dude, that's insane!!! (in a good way Wink )  I can totally relate to the cheese.  I've eaten a pound in one sitting before.

18 eggs......hmmmm....I'm gonna have to try that.....topped with a pound of cheddar!

Ok, you're an honorary cheesehead.  LOL    Welcome to journaland!!!
Dane

Hey Dean, apologies for not getting back to you sooner...........I could of written your post myself!....totally, totally agree with you in regard to dairy and even tiny amounts of carbs.
Once I've had as much as a sniff of a carb (yes even thick cream or eggs)......I binge.......it alters my mind set and I don't stand a chance!….. Lets just confirm this………..I ADORE DAIRY!!! (1000ml of double cream in one evening!)  Shock
Some people are just lucky and can tolerate more carbs (it's still no good for them) but I can't.... full stop. And I really beat myself up about it too, so it's psychological as well.

Not a problem when they are out of my system though because I become very strong mentally in resisting.....carbs are just not gonna happen when they are not present in my blood stream….........then I have some more cream.  Devil
I feel that my immediate ancestors originated in the northern hemisphere where all carbs were very scarce, and so to lay fat down for the cold winter months the most successful individuals had to be very sensitive to any addition of carbs into their diet. Even the smallest amount of sour berries etc IMO would of released insulin to start the fat process…..survival of the fittest?

Dean, I am a carb addict too!  Happy  Devil  Happy

On the darker side though, carbs are, IMO, the worlds most destructive and harmful drug of the masses.

Alex hi, you seem like a guy I could get on with!
It always amazes me (and my girlfriend) how much cheese and cream I can put away at one sitting.
In the far southwest of England (Cornwall) they specialise in a special type of cream called Clotted Cream. I've given it capitals cos it's the king of all creams.....apsolutely divine (I eat my 500ml in the garden so as to not upset my mother who thinks I'm gonna drop dead from a coronary any moment).  Wink

Hi Jeff, great to become part of the journey...and thank you for the honorary title....cheers mate! Sunny

Dean.....3rd day on my new regime of one meal a day, meat only and I feel great.....will keep you informed.
kateryna

Our pre-agricultural ancestors ate what they caught, gathered and/or killed. There were probably days that they ate nothing but elk or eggs or just drank water. I'm sure that they would have laughed their butts off if someone in the tribe told them to eat "everything in moderation." So there's nothing unusual in how you eat Dane. Grin
Dane

Hi Kateryna,

Thanks for your words of wisdom......I totally agree. The foods available to us and their availability was just something we didn't have to think about....when it came along we just ate and when it was absent we didn't.

How simple it is if you just open your mind.....how to eat, when to eat and how to remain as healthy as possible.  Sunny

I wish clotted cream was available around here.   It sounds incredible.
kateryna

We can get devon double cream (48% M.F.) here but it comes in a tiny little bottle (170 grams) and costs about $6.00. I get it occasionally when I can afford it. And it's never in the cream section, it's somewhere in the cheese section. Weird.
Dane

It's a very old Cornish food (read somewhere a old fisherman lived to 101 and said it was down to his 1lb of clotted cream/day)....old wisdom eh.  Yup

Easy to make ,so I was told by one of my school friends grandmother (I was raised in Cornwall....and on clotted cream)....get a load of raw full fat milk...place in a large saucepan and very gently simmer (never boil, just until there's a nice bit of steam rising)....and leave it for about 12 hours.

All the beautiful cream rises to the top and forms a kind of crust which, along with the cream itself is apsolutely wondrous. Heart

Off camping in Cornwall soon......  Devil

So you're basically just evaporating off the water.

Have fun camping!

Ok, I am seriously envious of all you people that can buy clotted cream.   Yup
Dane

Hi, I'm back from my hols in Cornwall......and totally clotted creamed up!

Wow, 250ml every evening for desert whilst the sugar addicts had their ice cream...of course I was the mad individual in the corner eating SATURATED FAT.....but that's ok cos I've assumed that role (and play it very convincingly) for a long time now. (Mother, pained expression on her face, "are you still in eating in that strange manner darling?")

Hope everyone's in good health and getting their cholesterol as high as poss  Devil .

Having been a carnivore now for close on 6 years and very confident and relaxed about my eating habits, I still get disheartened by what I hear and read in the popular media, almost on a daily basis.
Have a read of this recent article from one of our most popular papers The Independant http://www.independent.co.uk/life...ver-eat-a-fryup-again-908395.html

We are doomed as a species truly!!!!!!!......jeez this path is a lonely one......and probably will be for the rest of our lives  Sad HEY! buts that's really ok, and actually pretty damn cool, because who DOESN't want to stick out from the maddening crowd? Who doesn't want to be a bit of a renegade.....an anarchist even?  Wink

An article on the same page made me smile again though. It make enlightening comments on one of my 'modern' weaknesses (the others being red wine and whisky  Devil ) COFFEE!....its good for us!

http://www.independent.co.uk/life...ood-news-about-coffee-901665.html

Just off to put the stovetop on....................

Take care folks

The article about the heart bypass was so typical of everything in the mass media.  I agree with them about the smoking, exercise and trans fats, but that is about it.  I think the author is going to be disappointed in the future results of his new meatless plan.  If he thinks it will keep his heart and arteries safe, he may have an unpleasant surprise.

It is actually kind of sad... so many people are following the advice to the masses, and counting on it for their health.  I remember being one of them.... before my eyes were opened.
jeff

Welcome back, Dane.  It sounds like you had a great time.  I have to agree that this is a lonely path.  I never talk about my diet unless somebody asks.  Even then I am vague.
