Eggs are much better raw; cooking the eggs creates unhealthy toxins and the enzyme-inhibiting avidin in raw eggwhites is removed if the egg is fertilised (the case when eggs were taken from wild birds during Palaeo times). Nowadays it's rare for people to get hold of fertilised eggs, so it's a good idea to limit egg consumption.

Eggs would have been a very rare food in Palaeo times; birds tend to put their eggs in relatively inaccessible areas away from predators like trees, cliff-faces etc. - so it seems rather unlikely that Palaeo hunters could have got many eggs and those would not have been large.

This is what I have got to know from the rawpaleo forum - the same goes for chicken; they are "made" to produce eggs, cows are "made" to give milk. With "made" I mean with the help of a man made diet.

Nicola,

When eating raw eggs, how important is it to keep from stirring them up, like in a blender? Does this destroy certain proteins?
Nicola

I shouldn't think that this is a problem - if one can grind beef with out enzyme damage...

It's not just proteins that we should think about, it's also the fat Smile !
