Raw Liver DrinkA few weeks back, I got some fresh raw beef liver. I ate a bit of this raw, and, it tasted just the same as cooked liver. Since I don't care too much for the taste, and, since one does not need to (and should not) consume it very often, I was thinking it might be better to do it in some sorta drink. I've heard about people putting raw liver into a blender and adding different things to make some sorta drink, but can't remember what they used. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this type of drink?
I was thinking of the following ingredients.
raw beef liver
raw egg yolks
butter
even some cream? (although, I'm not currently doing cream - we had a horrible break up... long story - if jeff ever launches that clotted cream product, that may change ).
Any other ideas? Any herbs or seasoning that would be good to add? Also, what about other organs in the same drink? Like chicken hearts or ??? I'm willing to be the guinea pig and experiment with this, but I'll only be able to sip a bit, since I don't wanna overdo the liver.
TIA!

Mushroom extract, onion/garlic powder...or even anchovy extract (sounds gross, I know, but it really just gives it a rich 'umami' taste, not a fishy taste).
If you were eating bacon, that would be nice with it too!

hey dean if you decide you dont want to drink it, ive heard a couple of pretty good ideas.
you can peel the outer thin layer and grind it up with regular meat..
you could also freeze it and pop it like little pills
i need to start eating my livers again ive not had them in a while
the other drink i read about had liver and milk and honey, i dont think you want to be doing that though

I freeze it and pop little chunks of it like a vitamin. But if you find a shake recipe that's dairy-free, let me know - I'll try it. I don't much like the taste of raw liver, but I'm game.
Anchovy extract? Would anchovy paste work? What's mushroom extract?

Yep, anchovy paste would work...mushroom extract is just a powder that can be used like powdered stock.

Dean,
A friend told me that I could make raw liver pate. I've not made it raw but I will try it sometime. I've taken liver, cut it up into pieces, fried it in lots and lots of butter, added some salt, then blended the whole thing in my 3 HP blender (a Vitamix clone). Then I refrigerate the pate. It is quite good. You could try eliminating the frying part and see if you like it.

I've been chewing my frozen raw chunks - not horrible, but not good either.
