Sassy Says...I've decided to start a new journal for a new journey. I haven't gotten the diet under control at all but I have been IFing for almost 2 weeks. I decided that I could certainly do that even if I couldn't get the meal planning sorted out. It has been easier than I thought. Last week I lost a pound (which means I didn't gain a pound and that makes 2 pounds and that's the new math) - Sassy Says.

Sassy- I just love your "new math". Glad to see you here in Journaland!!!
I am using IF again right now as well, and I also find it to be pretty easy to use. It really helps me to keep the food within the amounts that allow me to lose. Best wishes for your plan.

The new math makes complete sense especially when you factor in time.

I have been back on track dietwise since Monday. I decided out of the blue that Monday was the day to finally get down to business. And since I was getting down to business, I decided I should dress for success which meant I needed to accessorize...

It's been a busy week. This morning I wanted a treat and what I wanted was a cinnamon roll. Knowing how good I had been this week, I didn't want to screw that up. I decided to experiment with making some kind of cinnamon splenda pork rind thing. Earlier in the week I had crushed pork rinds and used them as breading on fried chicken (very yum!) and loved the extra bake-ed-ness of the re-fried pork rinds, so this morning I started by melting some lard and coating a bag of pork rinds in it and then baking the whole mess until they were toasty brown. I then sprinkled a bunch of cinnamon and splenda on most of them (some were left plain to dip in homemade blue cheese dressing - also very yum!) It tasted nothing like a cinnamon roll, but was very tasty in it's own right and took care of the craving.
Re-fried - it's not just for beans! - Sassy Says.

I've heard of the cinnamon splenda pork rind thingies, they sound interesting, but I've never gone down that road. Thanks for posting your adventure, I feel better just reading it.

Hi Sassy, sounds like you're really getting there with the new math thing and original recipes. Your crushed pork rinds for breading reminded me of something I've not tried it yet, but I've read that you can bread your meat/fish with finely grated parmisan cheese. Think I'll try that with my chicken tonight since it's skinless. What a drag trying to find meat with fat or skin on it nowadays.

Hi Guys! Thanks for stopping in - I like the encouraging words and friendly postings. I'm not journaling as much as I want to, but I am eating the way I want and that's a good start.

Good quote Sassy, however when applied to me it's:
"Baby, baby steps towards a goal are always better than running hell bent in all directions at once"

Hi Guys!
I'm glad you liked my saying - it just popped into my head while I was posting. I'm actually quite honored that something I said will get into someone's quote list.
The folks on this bus are certainly nice, supportive people - Sassy Says!

P.S. Kateryna - even if you are standing still and leaning towards the right direction you are making a good start! Always give yourself credit for any effort that takes you closer to your goal and you might just find yourself working harder to reach that goal - Sassy Says!

Hi Shawn & Dean,
Thanks for stopping by! It's nice to pop in and see someone was thinking about you. The Magic Bus is like a fresh cup of coffee in an all night diner where the waitress knows your name - Sassy says.

That's cute Heather! I'll have to remember to ask for some Happy when I order the Tall, Light Foam, Half Caf, Extra Shot, Soy Latte. Only kidding - I drink coffee with heavy whipping cream - and we all know that automatically comes with a shot of Happy!
When did ordering food become so complicated? Why should our mastery of adjectives come into play when purchasing a beverage? It's like being in a culinary spelling bee and if you don't get it right the other kids will laugh at us. Is it just me or should I be able to order "the Artery Clogger" and get a big ol' cup o' Joe with Heavy Cream no questions asked? Why must it be Venti and what the heck is Breve?
Coffee with cream - it needs no adjectives. - Sassy says.

Hi Dean,
Everything is going a lot smoother. Thanks. I've set some new goals, signed up for some new classes, and am doing o.k.
I really need to catch up with all the goings on that are going on here on the bus! (And get my backside back to the backside of the bus as well!)
How have you been? How's school? Klondike?
I'm out town off and on for the next week, but after that you'll see more of me here on the bus.... but for now... what's your favorite travel song on the magic jukebox? I'm partial to this one:

Thanks Heather! It works really well when you know which direction is which - it's the times when you aren't quite sure which way to go that it gets tricky.

Very deep thoughts. I've spent the last week agonizing over a decision and finally made my mind up. It was funny because Heather posted my saying about goals and heading hell bent in the wrong direction and all I could think of was which way is which? They were both goals, just not the same goal. Were they equally o.k., or was one way the wrong direction? I finally ended up going with the idea that each way was equally good and bad, so I searched the internet and came up with someone else's wisdom:
"When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take - choose the bolder." William Joseph Slim
So I did.

An update on the bolder choice I posted about earlier... it did not work out but I am so glad that I made a choice to try to do something bold. Part of my boldness was being offered an opportunity that came at the wrong time and giving it my best shot anyway. My desire to have it work made me realize that I need to make a change. I have already begun moving in a new direction and I am so impatient to get there, but timing is everything.
This year I have consciously worked towards a new way of solving problems and when I stick with it I have found it works quite well for me. What I do is....
"Act! Don't React." - Sassy Says.

Too bad your bold choice didn't work out. But if had had not at least tried, you would have been guaranteed that result.
"Act. Don't react" I like that one.

Thanks Jeff! It felt like a longshot going into it, but I tried my best. The upside is that it also got me to focus on what is important to me. Today I came across what might be another opportunity and this one will give me plenty of time to complete my schooling and prepare more thoroughly. This all works very nicely with "Act! Don't react." Step one was get some additional training. Step two is to look out for what opportunities would come about because of that training. Step three (the scary part!!!) will be trying for the opportunities! The funny thing about being scared - sometimes it's a real motivator. Karla Bonoff has a great lyric in one of her songs - "The same thing that makes your baby cry might make him get up and go." I guess I'm getting up and going!
"Eeeeek!!!" - Sassy Says!
