Tape worms/other parasitesI want to go raw, well for some meals. My only real hang up is parasites. I've heard grass-fed is dangerous because there is more exposure to eggs sacs on the grass. And I get the impression the USDA lets egg cysts in, assuming people will cook their food. Has anyone here experience flu-like symptoms after eating raw meat (possibly weeks after)? This is supposedly a sign of tape worms.

I've eaten lots of raw meat, including pork, grassfed and grainfed meat, and I've even eaten low quality meat raw. The one thing I wouldn't do is eat raw organ meat from crappy sources as the liver, in particular, is a filter and will contain the crud that the animal couldn't detoxify.
I've never gotten sick from raw meat.
One theory, which I believe, is that parasites aren't a problem - it's the crud in our bodies that is a problem. Don't give the parasites anything to eat - i.e. improve your health and digestion - then they'll politely go away. Parasites that make people sick are doing so because they're eating up the crud that's in our bodies. The image I like is that if you have a dumpster full of rotting garbage and the vultures come to eat it then the solution isn't to kill the vultures but to clean up the dumpster.
A compromise for you might be to eat raw meat and, every few months, deworm yourself with a parasite cleanse. I have heard that some cultures periodically deworm themselves to protect themselves from parasites gone wild.

I have not eaten very much grass fed beef. But I do eat alot of raw beef and pork. I have been doing so for about 2 years now. Not a single problem to report.

No problem with raw meat either, high or low quality. Unfounded fears.

Alex, I've heard something like that but I don't know what's true. Even when I was an omnivore, eating cooked grains and raw meat, I never had a problem with parasites.
I've never tried the experiment of eating junk food and raw meat to see if I could feed the parasites, though, and I'm not gonna.

For what it's worth, I believe Bear said he got parasites once in his 47 years.
