What would you eat if you ate the same thing every day?

I'm pretty much living on plain steak with a touch of salt every day, and occasionally I have eggs with butter or chicken or lamb, again just with a touch of salt, all cooked in goose fat.

But, if I could only have one of those things, it would be beef! Heart True love! LOL The more I eat it, the less I crave anything else.

BJ,

If this is an offer you are making... I'll choose Alaska King Crab Legs and Maine Lobster Tails with loads of melted butter. I'll even eat this stuff exclusively for an entire year... or how 'bout for the rest of my life! What the hell. Grin

I'll be looking forward to the shipments of this wonderful food of the gods, starting on May 1st.

And, thank you, thank you, thank you! Heart  Kiss

Porterhouse, rare..... with butter....mmmmm that's it.

Billi-Jean, I love beef too.  Are you eating different cuts of beef or mainly the same cut.  I could eat rib-eye every day I think.

I'm all about the beef as well. Actually, any hoofed ruminant :) Bison, elk etc. Lately, chicken and pork don't do it for me.

But I second the crab legs - I could live happily on steak, crab, garlic and butter, with a few eggs thrown in for good measure.
jeff

I could eat a very rare ribeye with butter every day without batting an eye.
Kristelle

Lobster, crab, scallops all deeeeeeeeelicious. With salted melted butter, if only I could tolerate.

Mutton every single day would also be great. But can't find any where I live.  Sad

Beef is great too and that's what I eat almost exclusively because it's fatty and good and the next best thing after mutton and shellfish.

I recently started adding a little salt to my meat, tastes better and I think I was deficient in iodine just a little. So, let's see...

I usually just see what's on special and buy a whole heap of that. Most often it's what we call porterhouse steak and you guys call NY strip steak (I think).
I love rib-eye but can't really afford it at the moment.
T-bone is often on special so I eat that too -yum!

As Tracy mentioned, no other meat makes me feel completely satisfied, not even lamb! It's bizarre but I'm getting so that I can 'feel' this as both a physical and emotional response...wonder what the amino acid profile differences are between these different meats (and the fatty acid profile differences, for that matter) and if there is perhaps some basis as to why things like chicken or pork just don't give me that same happy, fully nourished feeling, like beef does... Dunno

kristelle: i was thinking the same thing for myself. ive been using sea salt which I dont think has iodine.. so ive started using a steak salt on my meat instead and sea salt on my eggs. we dont need much iodine, but we do need some for thyroid function. my understanding is the more inland one lives, the less iodine in the diet. makes sense.

im not a big salt eater.. too much and it makes me .. so I have to make sure to remember it.

BTW i could eat chuck eye steaks daily.. and I do eat eggs every day.. i have a super crush on eggs with raw yolks the yolks taste like some delicious sauce over steak.. and other times they taste kind of how I remember vanilla to be.. dunno, im strange that way. yesterday I had a whole dozen hb for just 5 minutes which left the yolks all runny and delicious.. added 1/2 stick of butter, garlic and onion salt.. they were heavenly!

BJ: i think part of it is that red meat has a good amount of iron and increases B vitamins too

Quote:
Making steak a part of the diet helps to protect against a low blood supply. Meat is one of the prime sources of iron and is rich in "heme" iron. It's the type that's more easily absorbed by the body than "non-heme" iron

Quote:
Meat is also a complete protein. This means it contains the nine essential amino acids that are needed for maintaining body tissues and keeping the immune system functioning. Our bodies are not capable of manufacturing these amino acids

Quote:
In addition, steak contains vitamins B-6, B-12, five of the B-complex vitamins, niacin, phosphorus and zinc. Few people ever think about the zinc in steak. But many people do not consume sufficient zinc required for reproduction, growth, night vision and the manufacture of hormones.

Quote:
Dr. Frederick Crane first isolated coenzyme Q10 (Co-Q10) from beef heart in 1957. And somewhere along the way his discovery escaped the radar signal that meat is one of the primary sources of Co-Q10. And that ordering steak well done not only tastes like eating leather, but also destroys Co-Q10.

Co-Q10 is needed to produce the body's fundamental unit of energy, ATP, the gas that provides energy for the heart. And studies show that as we age the body's ability to extract Co-Q10 from food decreases.

Kristelle, I went for two months with no salt, and finally got some iodized sea salt. It makes those bland tasting eggs so much better. Immediately after doing this, the frequent leg cramps I was having ceased, and I stopped feeling dizzy, as I was at times. I'm not sure why Cordain and Bear and others think salt is so bad, but, I think a bit of it is not only fine but may be necessary. Perhaps all the leg cramps people get when they get off junk is cuz junk food contains so much sodium. Once you throw off the sodium/potassium balance, this electrolyte balance issue will cause muscle contractions from hell (leg cramps). As long as one does not overdo salt, I don't think it's the issue some make it out to be. I still prefer unsalted butter, cuz it tastes so creamy and dreamy. My new Heart since my breakup with cream. Wink

BJ, a porterhouse steak is like a t-bone, but it has more of the tenderloin on it. Those are usually pretty expensive steaks. If you look at a porterhouse, it is huge compared to the t-bone, cuz the tenderloin part is larger. The kc/ny strip steaks are the opposite side of the t-bone. The tenderloin side of a t-bone is yum. Usually, when they cut the strips off the t-bone, it ends up being pure meat, cuz they also trim all the fat off the edges. A strip of dry meat. Yuk! Mad That's what I made the big mistake of buying a lot of on sale, last Fall. Now, I'm having to eat those up. Never again will I buy that type of cut. I'm planning on just searing these and eating them mostly raw. I love rib-eye and chuck-eye. They are so tender and fatty when really rare. Cool

BTW, there are special aminos or something in beef. I remember from nutrition classes that beef has some factors (probably some B vitamins and certain minerals) that other meat doesn't. I've had the same experience as you. If I go too long without beef, I start to really crave it, and it ends up making me feel so good. I think us humans have a very close evolutionary connection with eating herbivores. Mammoth, bison, and other grazing herbivores, were big parts of our diets for a very long time. So, BJ, add some tenderloins to that seafood order. Grin

I notice a good feeling from lambs/goats hart in the way of aged meat. I cut it up in to pieces, put all in a glace jar with a lid, air and turn around every day for extra bacteria.

Lots of Q10 Heart .

Nicola

I also have the feeling that it helps with mood, fear, energy boost, sleep, digestion...
Billi-Jean

Great info here everyone, thanks! Heart
Tracy

Great beef info! I really notice that beef (or other ruminants) gives me tons of energy, especially when it's mostly raw inside. Other meats have become once-in-a-while foods.

Though tonight I am having enormous quantities of pork ribs...mmmm.

Rare Ribeye with Butter  Heart
lex_rooker

I do eat the same thing everyday so for me it is not a "what if".  Course ground grass fed beef mixed with Slankers Dog & Cat food which is made from a little bit of everything including a variety of organ meats.  All of it is from beef, and I always eat it raw.

I do go out to eat about twice a month and then I order two 16 oz ribeyes as rare as they will make them smothered in butter.
