Zero carbs, but not raw?The thought of an all meat diet, fresh, little to no processed food, is something I think about now and then. But there is no way I'm going to eat raw, or near raw, steak I'm not sure I'd go beyond medium rare, in fact. I know this would eliminate some nutrients, so supplementing would be a good idea, I'd think.
Anyone else follow a similar plan? Thoughts on this?

You might be surprised at what you can eat if you just ease yourself into it. You might try gradually cooking your meat less and less. A few years ago I never would have dreamed of eating raw meat. Now I prefer it.
If you do eat mostly cooked meat, then maybe supplementation might be advisable.

I supplement, not because my food is cooked but because I like to spend money on fancy vitamins. Shopping is fun! I like to take extra vitamin D, fish oils and various others like vitamin C, magnesium.
I would feel lost without taking vitamin D and fish oil.
I've gone stretches without taking vitamins and I don't notice any difference, I think they just help to calm the fear of a long term deficiency.
I will usually only eat beef rare but lately I've had no appetite for beef so it's been all chicken for me and it is all cooked. Next week it may change and I only eat beef for a month straight.

yeah, tastes change so much. when i was a younger (much) woman, i ate meat well done. now i would rather do without than eat overcooked meat. if med rare goes closer to med, it's too done. i started w medium then....evolved. bloody as hell, yum. don't know if i'll ever go raw other than sashimi though.

I wasn't raw, I never ate "raw" chicken. It was medium rare.... It was just less cooked than the "experts" recommend. I eat my chicken breast like that all the time now.
Which reminds me, I forgot to take my VITAMINS today....

Heather, you're ruining your image! C'mon, it was RAW, right?

It'd really be something if she ate it while it still had the feathers on it

I'll pretend I didn't see that.

I didn't think I would like raw meat either. Last time a cooked roast I thought I'll just try a little bite raw. It was amazingly good. It was chuck roast and I was surprised at how tender it was and how easy to eat. I did go ahead and cook the roast. Not really sure I am ready to eat all my beef raw. I figure if I don't try it I'll never know.

I find most raw cuts of beef to be amazingly tender. They only get tough when you cook them.....or overcook them.

Jeff, when you eat a raw cut of beef -- say a rib eye -- do you just put it on a plate, cut it, and eat it the same way you would if it were cooked?
I've been eating raw hamburger meat lately (sometimes with worschester sauce and capers; sometimes not). But I haven't tried an ordinary cut of non-ground meat and I'm not quite sure how I would approach it.

I can only eat the lean cuts raw, which are usually horrible when they are cooked. A rib eye has too much fat for me to eat raw, I like my fat warmed. I think warmed is still basically raw.

For steaks, I usually just sear the outside. So everything other than a thin layer on the outside is raw. But yes, I then just put it on a plate and eat it with a fork and steak knife.
I am with Heather when it comes to fat. I dont like cold, raw fat. I like it to be warm and juicy.

I'm eating my beef much more rare than I used to.
I had some friends who would put their steak on the grill, turn it over and call it done.
I thought yuk!
But I am getting closer and closer to that every day.

Hi Miriam,
I have always like rare but I am finding right now that I have to cook my beef a bit more (I think it is just a response from induction flu like symptoms of going meat and water only. I look forward to getting back to rare meat again once my body adjusts. I love carpaccio but plan to abstain for January (I put oil, vinegar and Parmesan cheese on raw meat) because I am trying to go as close to zero as I can.

I was always medium rare. I hated to see raw inside.
Now not so much.
I so love this way of eating and I feel great.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. Any room for a newbie? :D
I love my cow crippled and walked across a fire! I grew up with my dad butchering out meat and slicing little hunks off and seasoning them with salt, pepper and garlic and toss it to us. Man we loved that treat. To this day I can not eat a steak when it is medium. The bite just grows in my mouth!
But I can see that walking down the rare side would be easier to do than doing it cold turkey.

I find that rare is good for me now. But I do like to sear the steak because of possible pathogens.
So it kills that and you get the advantage of the rare meat.

Miriam, in today's world I so agree! I love it seared rare. :)

Raw's okay....but I mainly have seared steaks.
The only thing I eat raw seems to be fish in the form of Sashimi. Raw fish is so much better than cooked fish.

Hey, Dave!
Good to see ya around.
Yah, I think eating extremely rare steak is nice. Raw is probably excellent for the nutrients, though. Doing some seared meat with raw inside now and then is probably a good practice. I think raw eggs are the same way. Drink 'em down for the nutrients.

I can and do eat raw hamburger and I've always liked my beef two degrees above moo. Like Heather I don't have problems eating cuts like sirloin raw but fatty stuff like ribeyes have to be cooked at least a little.
