Hi,
I am glad to be home! We had a bad snow storm here and it took 6 hours instead of 3.5 hours to drive home because of all the ice on the highways.
Yesterday - 2 points, I had processed meat, rubbish and no raw
Today - 3 points, I had processed meat and no raw
Total - 5 points

5 points today. Raw egg yolk, extremely rare rib-eye drenched in butter, very fatty hamburger. Used RedHot with both this beef, and, I must say, that's the answer to zero carb sauce for me. It's dirt cheap and gives a nice zing to any type of meat.
That burger I had was a one pounder. So fatty and tasty. I just burgers.
I experimented with the rib-eye today, grilling it for 3 minutes on one side and two minutes on the other. It was still not as rare as I want. Next, I'm gonna do it for 2 minutes on one side and 1 minute on the other. Eventually, I can just throw it on the broiler, flip it over, and then toss it on my plate. Or, as Heather would say, cut the horns off, ride it past the fire. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

It's a whole new language, and, depending on where you live, the language is different.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porterhouse_steak
| Quote: | | The T-bone and Porterhouse are steak cuts of beef. They consist of a T-shaped bone with meat on each side. The larger side contains meat from the strip loin, whereas the smaller side contains the tenderloin. T-bone steaks from the rear end of the tenderloin contain a much larger section of the tenderloin, and are called porterhouse steaks. In British usage, followed in Commonwealth countries, only the strip loin side is called the porterhouse, and the tenderloin side is called the fillet. |
BTW, BJ, it's these porterhouse or strip loin side (KC strips is what they are called here in KC... everywhere else in the states they're called NY strips) that I got too many of, and that I feel are so damn lean. I've decided that the only way I can eat them is just barely seared on the outside and totally raw on the inside. Even then, I'm gonna have to limit myself to no more than 5oz of this pure protein. I need a super high animal fat ratio, otherwise I have really bad issues with headaches and carb cravings, etc. |
Exactly, Dean! That's why I struggle to figure out what you guys are talking about all the time, in spite of researching the different cuts at various websites.
Even here alone, it's frustrating because some people/butchers call the same cut different things...for example they may call the 'porterhouse' a 'sirloin' steak instead. It's all very confusing
Wow, it's interesting that these lean NY/KC strips are the same cut that I've been eating as porterhouse!! Mine are unbelievably fatty, and with so much marbling that they just totally melt in your mouth. I'm amazed that they're the same cut! The ones I get usually have yellowish fat too, so I know they've been raised at least in part on grass and not totally on grain or the fat would all be really white. |

I guess in OZ it must be easier to get grass-fed beef. That's cool. Pretty sure that is what Bear was eating. I'm jealous. No, the KC strips are like pure meat, no marbling of any kind. The fat on the edges are always trimmed to about a millimeter. Ridiculous. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

3pts yesterday. Thought I had 4, but I just realized I forgot to have something raw. I've been having either raw egg yolk or frozen raw liver every day - yesterday I was busy and not thinking about eating much and totally forgot.
I'm starting to consider them as my vitamins!
Val, you had a snowstorm? Crappy. My sister used to live in Calgary and Grande Prairie (her ex worked the oil fields) and she said you guys get some weird weather out there. She really liked the chinooks though :)
I am blaming these contests for the fact that I am now waking up before 7am every morning, raring to go, even when I go to bed after midnight! _________________ www.fearandloathinginthekitchen.com |

5 for me the last 2 days. I am grinding my burger this weekend. The night before last Alton Brown showed how on his show. 10 pulses in the food processor of equal amounts of chuck steak and sirloin steak cut into about 1 in cubes .

6.5086 kg body fat loss since February 1.
So nice to finally start losing. Calorie reduction? Dairy issues? IF? Exercise? A combo of some/all of these? Other factors? Only the black box knows for sure. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Thanks, Kim and jeff.
I've only got 6.8996 kg of body fat left to lose to hit an acceptable level. After that, it's all about resistance training to shape up more and more. The fat roll around my belly is so small, I can barely pinch it, but, while I'm sitting down, if I slightly bend over, and try really hard, I can still pinch a bit. When I'm standing, my abs are totally flat, but not hard like they are gonna be. jeff, I'm sure if you tried it, you'd be able to pinch a bit as well. For me, I guess I just need a goal to work toward. It keeps me motivated and on track.
The fact this is "the last bit of fat" and I'm losing it on ZCarnivore with high animal fat and loads of calories and not even any exercise to speak of, well, I'm sold. I'm convinced that those who say they "just can't lose" on this WOE, have never given it a fair chance. They cheat so often and, therefore, derail the necessary enzyme and hormonal transformation. They just don't get it. I've been doin' this consistently for 3 months now, and, frankly, I find it sort of offensive to my efforts to hear about how this WOE doesn't work. All these excuses from those who don't even wanna give it a real shot.
It takes time and perseverance. There is no instant Kool-Aid, magic pill, or quick fix. That's just a marketing gimmick many have been brainwashed with. It's easy to cave and then blame something else. There is no healthier way to eat than what our ancestors evolved on for millions of years. They prized the fat, and the game was plenty, so they had it to eat. Why would they not prize such wonderful energy-giving and healthy stuff? They obviously quickly found what it would do for them.
I'm sorry, but, if someone wants to cling to their plant matter and carbs and all sorts of modern toxic treats, and not even find a way to make this type of eating work, fine. But, when those same people put it down and say "it doesn't work", well, that's just a huge slap in the face of those of us who have stuck to it long enough to realize the benefits.
For those who eat raw meat, they are even more committed to good health. To look down on them is so totally absurd. Those people should be looked up to as examples of people eating completely normal diets. Everyone else is eating in a very odd fashion for a human, or any other animal, for that matter. Such is the nature of acculturation, though. But, even for those who eat rare cooked meat, at least they are tyring to get close to our normal diet. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Sure I can. And I'm perfectly content with the body I have now.

I couldn't agree more. I think Kristelle said something very similar a few weeks ago.
Perhaps some people need to be more strict than others. But I do believe that if you take the carbs low enough, the weight will come off. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

4pts yesterday - remembered my raw ;)
Dean, I think you make some good points there. I know when I first started losing weight, I could get away with some off days here and there. Now that I'm almost at goal, I can't. I don't gain, but I don't lose anymore either.
The people I've noticed who have trouble shedding weight this way seem to have pre-existing problems, like thyroid issues, etc. Seems likely to me that at least some of us have "damage" from a lifetime of eating crap, or yo-yo dieting, or certain genetic predispositions that have been switched on by environment/lifestyle that pose an obstacle to shedding weight (problems that wouldn't have been a factor in paleo times, for example, so the body's out of whack). I feel really lucky that my gluten issues were discovered and dealt with before they became a real issue, health-wise.
But I wonder too about what you said, about being totally strict with it. Adapting. I know I throw my adaptation off, and I am planning to use the May contest as an opportunity to really, finally go keto. I notice certain things, like my concentration being off (which is likely from dairy, sigh whine moan), and I'm tired of the back and forth.
The best I've felt, ever, since I went low carb, was when I was eating mainly meat and was also dairy-free. So that's my aim for May. I want this damn roll gone, and to quit seeing food as entertainment. _________________ www.fearandloathinginthekitchen.com |

5 points for Thurs. Yay!
I would like to add that hunters in ages past would have gone through lean times where game would be scarce. We don't have that issue , so that may be why some struggle to lose. I know I don't lose very well unless I keep the portions under control. Maybe women have more trouble in this way. ?? |
