I've been having suet, butter, eggs, sweetbreads, liver, beef and pork.
I'll admit, I fully cook my pork- it's the brain cysts (cysticercosis) resulting from eating the eggs of Taenia Solium that really compel me to cook it. I know that probably 9/10 pork items don't carry any serious parasite, but the possible brain and nervous system damage that can occur with this one seems to upset even those odds. |

Val,
No doubt lowering fat will help you lose faster. Calories probably do play a part in losing, up to a point. I've lost so slowly, but, I may not have as much to lose as you do. The high animal fat makes me feel so fantastic, though. I have a hard time if I go too high on the protein. BTDT, and I'm kinda scared to mess with that. BTW, are you exercising? It can definitely be hard to lose sometimes on a high fat diet, especially if you do any carbs. I hope you find what works for you long term. Just be careful with going to low on the animal fat. Check things like how much hair is in your brush, dryness of skin, etc. Congrats on figuring things out to this point.  |
Hi Dean,
Last year I did three months straight of low fat and was rewarded by hand fulls of hair loss when I washed my hair. It kills me to have to lower my fat again but to get the weight off, it is what works for me. I am hoping that by raising my fat four days every two weeks, that my body will respond better and that my hair will stay in place. I used to think about the carbs I can reintroduce once I hit goal, now I think about the fat instead. The good thing about a low fat diet is that it is super easy to do. The deep state of ketosis I am in has totally killed my appetite. I have finished five days of my ten day low fat commitment. On Saturday I am going to buy the fattiest steak I can find and BBQ it (slightly) and eat it with butter. This sounds way better than break, pasta, potatoes or anything else I used to crave. Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh yeah,
I have been exercising in a group with a personal trainer doing both strength and cardio. I have lost 90 lbs and am looking for losing about 45 - 50 more. My mood is icky the last three days. Not sure if it is the lack of fat for the abundance of snow.

Considering it's almost May.....I'd say it's the snow. Not much better here, Val. I just went to pick up my daugher from school. Rain....snow....sleet.....everything all at once.

Hello ya'll. Sorry for the long absence. I wandered to the back of the bus and somehow got lost on my way back. I just got through reading this thread, it will certainly take me a while to catch up on everything else that I missed.
Even though I wasn't here I did eat on plan every day of the month, just more of what I had on previous menus. It was interesting giving up dairy, but I didn't notice any real differences. Actually, I gained ~5 lbs over the course of the challenge. That's fine, I could use the weight, as thin as I am. I exercised sporadically and not terribly intensely over time, so it's probably not from that. Combined with Jeff's experiment it does seem to support the Bear's claim that on a ZCarnivore diet one will automatically gain or lose weight to approach your own ideal weight. I didn't track caloric intake, so it could also be data in support of the calories in/out theory as I may have increased my caloric intake over previous months. Or I could have decreased it. Who knows? I didn't track it. 
Dean, I usually grill my ribeyes over high heat for about 1 to 1 and a half minutes per side. Nice and raw inside, but not all of the fat warms up.

15 points for the last 3 days of April.
Same old same old. Raw strip steak, seared for 3 seconds per side in very hot tallow. Took Van's advise and let the steak sit out for about 30 minutes to an hour before throwin' it in the pan. It was much better and butter did melt on top the steak. Ground beef burgers, sb eggs with butter and hot sauce, which has become quite the staple for me. I'm now out of RedHot sauce and must locate those half gallon jugs of this stuff. Will have to call around tomorrow.
