There was one thing that made me smile.  There were 4 men in the 20-29 group.  I beat three of them.  I showed those youngsters who's the boss!  Yup

Actually, having looked at lots of race results, it's apparent that distance runners are in their prime from about 30-45.  Almost all the top finishers are always in their 30's.  You never see a teenager winning half-marathons or 10k's.

Jeff, we're really proud of you with all of your racing.  Heart

Do you have a race coming up soon?

There is a 10K near here (Milwaukee) soon and of course I thought of you.

Oh, and I thought of you today when I was downtown and was walking near the Brazilian restaurant!  LOL

Thanks, Jessica.

No races planned, but I'll be looking.

I don't know of any Brazilian places around here.  But I'll bet Madison has something.  What's the place called in Milwaukee?  Although I'm not really into driving 70 miles for dinner.  LOL

My workout yesterday was three one mile intervals with a one minute rest between miles.  I posted my best time ever.  I ran miles of 7:29, 7:42, and 7:38, for a total time of 22:49.  18 seconds better than my previous best.

Then I came home and mowed the lawn.  All on an empty stomach.  Well, except for coffee.   LOL

Best time ever?  Yay Jeff.  Cheer  You deserve some kind of celebration.  Too bad I can't think of any way to celebrate such awesomeness.    Devil  (well maybe a few things come to mind)

Naughty joking aside, really, that truly is impressive.   Yup

Hi there Jeff,

I am completely new so this is my first ever posting! Thought it should be to you... LOL

I am fascinated by the different experimental trials you guys have been adopting - you, Dean, Running Dog and Lex's one way back.

Are you on a particular WOE right now or just doing your "Normal Thang". I wonder if any girls have attempted the high fat at 80% and 3-4,000 calories that you guys seem to have no problem with- it would be good to see this as you men seem to manage to maintain a stable BW on 80% fat but I am not so convinced women meet the same deal on this one. Let me know where is best to look for any good fat/protein experiments going on right now or which Journals to follow.

Any directional help would be approciated.

Thanks,

Violeta   Devil

Nora..I did a high fat 80% trial eating 5-10 carbs or less for many months, but there is no way I could eat 3-4000 calories..I did more like 2000-2500  and no exercise.   Now I eat 1500 calories and exercise a LOT.  I lost a tiny bit of weight and a lot of inches  and then stalled..but I fixed my blood pressure and my metabolism..or so it seems...I am glad I did it, but also throughly enjoy the way I eat now.  It's logged in my journal Jan-March or April..

There is no doubt in my mind that if I could choke down 3000 calories of just meat and animal fat I would not gain weight...but I doubt I would lose..well..except for the fact that I would be puking and running to the bathroom all the time.

Oh hi Jeff..I'm still waiting on those nipple shots for "motivation" Heart

Hi, Violeta.  I'm honored that you chose my journal for your first post here.  I don't really follow any specific plan....I just do my own thing.  Various meats, cheese, cream, coffee, a little wine or other alcohol once in a while, and that's about it.  Very little, if anything, in the way of vegetables.

One thing I have learned is that each person must find out for themselves what works for them.

You can consider meat and water safe.  Anything else could could cause problems for some people.  Eat as little of these things as you can until you find what works for you.  Eat if you are hungry.  Don't eat if you are not hungry. Eat until you feel satisfied. Of course, this is sometimes easier said than done.

Good luck!  Looking forward to following your progress.

HI Jeff and yOu - thanks for the feedback.

I currently live on red meat(mainly pork and lamb), sat fat ,also goose fat and fois gras and cream. That's about it - oh and also salmon .

I live in Switzerand so can get fois gras and goose/duck fat by the jar full. The real things and we make our own. I render lard from the pork constantly- a very very hard thing to do here as all butchers french trim their meat and I have to ask for the fat that goes into their bin and they cannot believe it- and I have to ask in french just to make it more embarassing... all good fun eh. They don't even have words for this stuff here and as for crackling- no way!

I ask you about yourself because I have a very high fat intake. I do get nauseous after some meals from it.  I cannot believe how many calories you guys put away on these levels of fat intake - astounds me. That is where my curiosity lies.

I find cream a nightmare- love it but it hates me- the next day I can guarantee the good old histamine reaction- red eys, running nose, sore joints in knees and elbows! I eat it anyway, having breaks now and then to let symptons go away. I do envy people who can manage without symptons on Dairy. Too much casein I guess.

Sorry if I am posting this in the worng place- guess I should set up a journal but the thing is- I do not need to lose weight-. I need to put it on so it seems inappropriate to set up a weight loss journal.

Please let me know if i am inappropriately posting,

thanks,

Violeta Devil

Violeta - set up a journal, they are not for weight loss, but rather just to document your journey - whatever it may be.

Find a seat on the bus and get comfy, we're all here to support each other on our different paths, whether to lose or gain....it's all good on the bus!

Welcome Violetta, Jump on the bus! See you at your journal. Drop by and join in the fun at the September Food Challenge found in the metabolic ward. It will be fun to see Swiss food!

My normal daily calories are probably around 2500, and I would guess I average 70% fat.

Got a sharp pain in my left calf while running Sunday.  Had to stop.  I suppose it's some kind of muscle strain or something.  Time to take some time off to rest.

It's been a week since I hurt my calf and it's feeling much better, but not quite 100%  I don't want to rush it.  I want to make sure I'm healthy for the 5k race I'm running in 2 weeks.

Yay, a cheerleader!  Maybe you can borrow Heather's Pom Poms.

And I am being very careful with the leg.  Even after if feels 100%, I'll wait a couple of more days.

The leg feels good today, but like I promised, I'll wait at least a couple more days before I run.  And even then, I think for the first run I'll take it easy.  No need to rush things.

I'm glad that y0u are being smart about your knee.  It's really hard when you're an exercise junkie like we are huh?  I am going on a short bike ride today..still not up for too much myself.

Hope you heal  soon... Heart

Thanks yOu.  Yes, it is hard.  Er.....I mean, difficult.  Well, it might be hard, but you didn't hear that from me!  Devil

Seriously though, it's all I can do to not go out and run today.  It's a beautiful fall day here, and it would be an awesome day for it.

MM, thanks for taking it all the way into the gutter.  No sense in leaving it only half way there.   LOL

I did an easy 3 mile run today.  I ran at an 8:45 pace.  No pain, but the calf did feel a little tight.  I'd say it's 100% healthy for normal daily activities, but for running, maybe 80-90%.  I would not have felt confident in really turning it on.  So a few more days rest and I'll give it another go.  It felt good to run, though, after taking 10 days off.
