I know if I have just one drink of wine or coffee, I'll be right back to a daily deal with either. I'd rather spend that money on fatty meat! _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

I lost another pound and 2 1/2 inches. It's going slowly, but it's working. So 11 pounds and 4 1/2 inches this year.
Eating this high fat is hard, I will finish this months experiment out, but for March I am not eating this high fat, and will probably drop some calories just because of that. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

It's my Nephews 3rd B-day today so my dad and brothers and families and I are going to a pizza place for dinner. I doubt there will be much on the menu I can eat. I will just eat before I go, no biggie.
I don't feel so good today, crampy and bloaty..but my scale says I am super skinny today..Not Making it official until Monday though.
I gotta go lay down.. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Well, I drank some barley wine style beer last night and it was a mistake...a big mistake. I puked 3 times this morning. Not fun, and I have felt ill all day long. Lesson learned. I think that was my alcohol for the month.
I did find hot wings on the menu at the pizza place though..they were good. No beer with dinner...akk! _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Ok, I have been pretty damn strict for 6 weeks. But...I am gonna bump it up a notch. I really need to get some more exercise. This has been my downfall for awhile now, and I need to get back into the groove. I always feel better when I exercise. If I can just do it every day for 2 weeks I will stick with it. Even just an hour long walk every day would be fine, and some resistance bands at home for 15 minutes. So here is to day 1....(thought I haven't actually done it yet but I have to go grocery shopping and I am walking there and back and it takes an hour). _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

I exercised for 2 days in a row..it's a start and y0u gotta start somewhere.
I made a friend a cheesecake and it's been sitting in my frig for 2 days now, it gets delivered tomorrow for a B-day dinner. I have not and will not touch this thing. The B-day dinner is Duck and that is all I am eating. I wrote it...therefore it is....
Onward with science experiment...Lots of fat is working well. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Eating meat, animal fat, very limited dairy and eggs seems to be working quite well. I have increased my calories quite a bit this month, by 300-500 and upped my fat as well.
Today is the beginning of week 7 for this, and week 3 for the high fat/moderate protein experiment. It's weigh in day and I have lost 3 pounds and a 1/2 an inch this week. Not too shabby at all. So that is a total of 14 pounds and 5 inches in 6 weeks.(I put the wrong weight at the beginning of my journal by accident, I was 225)
I am really thinking I can be in Onederland by April If I stick to my guns and work the plan. I have no cravings, I have pounds of cheese in the frig and barely eat any of it. I seem to be doing great with an oz or two of goat cheese once in awhile and the same with a little bit of cream.
I have been off of AS for 6 weeks, although I did not eat much of them, they really did trigger cravings for me. I am doing really well (with one exception) in regards to consuming alcohol, but that is just another form of sugar craving in my opinion, and since that has been solved.....

Hey..thanks everyone...I really appreciate the encouragement. I am just workin my plan and staying on the path..and trying not to look at the pretty flowers.
I accidentally stepped on my scale today and I am down ANOTHER pound. But I am not recording that until next week.
Cheesecake left here on Sunday, I never touched it. I have never had a sweet tooth...except for bad men... _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Ok, so I am making observations about carbs, calories and fat. Last months figures are as follows:
Last months daily average stats:
Calories:1,563
Fat: 75%, 133.5 gr
Protein: 23%, 88.3 gr
carbohydrate: 2%, 6.4 gr
These are this months so far, and I don't expect them to change, with the possible exception of calories being slightly higher.
Calories: 1,827
Fat: 80%, 163.7 gr
Protein: 19%, 82.6 gr
Carbohydrate: 1%, 2.1 gr
I am losing just as much weight and inches and eating almost 300 more calories a day, and I feel quite satisfied as far as food goes. When I was eating less calories and fat I had cravings for more things, with more calories and fat, and a tad of goat cheese, I am satiated. Other areas of my life are heating up too... not sure where that is going yet..hmmrph.. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Miriam, me too..can't get any better than this.
Ok so it's spring time in Oregon. I popped into the garden and this is growing..wow...Fibonacci would have loved this sight!!
I am going to eat it next month!! So this of course gets me thinking about planning a low carb vegetable garden. Never done that before but it will be fun. I can always give stuff away to friends as well, but i have always done that, as well as donate to the food bank.
So here the dilema begins. Do I add veggies back in this summer..how much..will it halt weight loss?? My garden is a very social and mental perk for me, I love it. I enjoy being in a community garden and teaching kids and adults about growing their own foods. Evening cocktails in the garden are fun as well.
So today I am going through all my seeds, and will see what I can plant that is low carb. I will still do tomatoes, lettuces, japanese greens, peppers, green beans, brocolli, summer squuash, cauliflower and maybe some eggplants. But where the corn was I should do garlic and onions. I still have most of the spaghetti squash I grew last year, it will keep another 6 months at least. I will abstain from all produce until May with the exception of a few heads of cauliflower that are producing in the garden right now.
And how will my stomach react to reintroducing veggies??? Dean..do you have any experience with this? _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Yes, I do.
When you go a long time without plant matter, your gut bacterial environment changes a lot. Once you reintroduce this stuff, look out. Be prepared for anything.
Long term, for me anyway, it's all about the fiber. I do think it's damaging. Also, the bacteria colonies are said to cause toxins to enter your blood stream. I don't need to concern myself about the validity of these threats, cuz, for me, I love spending the food bucks on animal flesh and fat, and avoiding the digestive issues that plant matter brings to my world. It's much more simple to just eat meat, eggs, butter, herbs, spices, water. Nothing goes to waste, either. Back when I used to think vegetation was necessary for good health, I would often throw tons of rotten vegetation in the trash, because it went bad before I got around to eating it.
Anyway, my thoughts are, if you love plant matter, eat it. It's not going to cause weight gain, if that is your main concern. In fact, it's my contention that one can actually lose weight quicker if they include this type of plant matter in their diet, since the overall calories will be lower, due to the displacement of animal fat, which is very high in calories. It is my experience as well. I used to eat a ton of vegetation, along with smaller amounts of meat and eggs, and I lost consistently. Of course, for the aforementioned reasons, I would rather eat the way I do now. I still lose and I feel so wonderful, and my gut is dead silent. And, I like it that way. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Thank you Dean, I knew you would have some good info to share, and it's much appreciated. I think I am going to eat small amounts of vegetation seasonally. But I don't have to make any decisions soon. I am starting my seeds this weekend though..I can still grow stuff. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

So yOu've actually been doing your own little MAM experiment! Cool. And your results are the same as what Dean and I have experienced. With carbs close to zero, calories really do seem to be irrelevant. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

Yes I have been. I have seen no women do it so I needed to. I see a lot of overweight women that say they cannot lose no matter what, but very few try near zero carbs, no alcohol, and almost no dairy, high fat from animal(not dairy). It seems to be working for me. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

I weighed and measured myself today, I did not lose anything this week but I certainly did not gain, so I am fine with it, my body needs to adjust.
I have been exercising regularly, so that is good, though I am sure I could do better.
Eating a 1 pound steak after not eating for a day is a bad bad thing, I should be asleep but I still feel too ill to lay down. It sure felt good going down
I have no cravings. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Been at a stand still on weight loss still..but things will move soon. I am reducing calories next month a bit. Here is my haul from the meat man today..he gave me a "deal" again and winked at me
No need to add fat to these hunks-o-meat.

Hey yOu!
I'm a newbie here on this forum, but have been LCing for over a year now. I enjoyed reading your journal... and hope to catch up on others' soon too. Fortunately, yours was a short read (compared to others who have over 30 pages!).
Looks like we're both 5'7"... and reaching for that 150 goal weight. I'm at 208 lbs right now-- so only 58 more to go! My 30 yr class reunion is this summer.... so I've got my LC groove on!
How are your workouts coming along? I was never a gym rat... until Spring/2007. I hired a personal trainer and had one for almost two years. He returned back to college in January. When I first started out, I had memories of all the times I had joined gyms, paid for memberships, and never followed through. In the past, I had lost weight but never kept it off longterm. I felt that EXERCISE was the key thing that was missing from the equation. I took baby steps one day at a time, and read somewhere that it took 21 times to form a habit. The gym did become my new addiction... and it was a healthy thing. Not only did I feel better and look better-- I also formed new friendships and developed a more positive outlook on life. Plus, it sure was nice to hear from other members when they would compliment me on my body transformation. All the weight training has made a difference on my overall muscle tone.. and I have less saggy skin.
Hope things are going well for you! |

Hi Kathy, thanks for dropping in. Yep, looks like we have the same amount to lose. I am a slow loser but I am working my plan..and it's working.
As far as workouts, I wish I could go to a gym but I cannot. I am walking daily and I don't drive, so I ride my bike or walk every where. As soon as the weather turns a bit warmer I will be riding my bike a lot more, so that should speed things up a bit.
Glad you came aboard the bus, it's a good place. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

Bikes and walking are great too! I have this huge hill on my street with excellent incline that I want to attempt! The last time I tried to ride a bike was at a garage sale .. I thought I would try it out before the big purchase. I got on it, started peddling.. and it shook like mad!! I don't know if it was the bike or ME??!! Let's just say I haven't been on a bike since!
