The cramps could be from too much water. I think it's possible that excess water can dilute electrolytes. I would suggest that you drink water only when thirsty. This worked for me.

Ironically...Yesterday it was really hot out and I drank way more water than I usually do..and I got awful leg cramps..which has never happened before..so there must be something to this. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

I have the cramping problem big time. Not just in my legs but everywhere - regardless of calorie intake. I don't know how much potassium is in the no salt but I take two 99mg potassium tablets every night along with 500mg of Magnesium. This has not cured my cramps but I am reminded every night I forget to take my potassium that it helps. Ouch! You may want to try the straight supplement and see if that helps.
As for the constipation, I don't have that problem BUT I can say that if I overdo it on the fat I have the opposite problem - so I'd say, get yourself lots of scrumptious fat and see if that doesn't get things *Ahem* moving.
Best of luck to you! |
NoSalt 1/4 teaspoon has 17% of rda. That is 610 mg. You might want to give it a try. Might be cheaper than pills. But do not try ( like I did) to put it on water and drink it. That stuff is VILE!
I just started to sprinkle it on all I eat. Still only getting about 40% rda. This morning did not had cramps, but still "no go".
I am getting a food scale and will start carefully measuring my foods, to see what my percentages are. Increasing my fat would be too much of a hardship.

That makes sense, the more water I drink, the worse I seem to get.
Today I mowed the grass and drank a lot of water... |

Cecilia,
I actually bought some NoSalt tonight - I checked it out to see and couldn't believe how much Potassium it provides - forget the supplements. Plus I'm giving up salt so this is perfect.
Don't know what to tell you about the cramps - they are just awful. I got two in the middle of the night last night - ugh. I've tried upping my water, lowering my water - I haven't figured out the secret yet but if I do, I'll let you in on it. |

I know, my Dr. completely disregards it. Her advise is massage your ankle, or eat a banana...
I am doing about 1200 mg potassium, 500 mg magnesium and less water now. I will let you know how that goes. |

last day of the month:
beef at 7am
beef at 4:30pm
i used salt.
reflections of May:
wine came into play at the end of the month.
i wanted to celebrate painting my place, and it ended up being something that came with a surprise TOM.
i like my beef salted.
i don't like my beef unsalted.
i didn't have beer--that i can remember.
i don't think i had any beer this month.
all in all it was a good month.
didn't lose any weight, but more inches came off.
i nearly lost a dress size.
i've given some clothes away.
i look forward to next month.
and i do like these challenges, as they keep me accountable.
it just helps me stay my course and pretty soon it will be set as my WOL.
thanks for the challenges, dean!
and here's to next month! _________________ "Failure is an opportunity to start again more intelligently." |

Day 31
Food
sockeye salmon with butter
stuffed mushrooms
jalapeno poppers
1/2 an avocado
coffee and cream
cantaloupe
Exercise..crunches, walk.
I did not drink alcohol this month, I lifted weights all month, I completed the 100 push-up program and I lost 5 pounds and 2 inches. I did not ride my bike 50 miles a week..but I am happy with what I have accomplished this month.
I may even go another month with no alcohol..we'll see. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |
