Whole chickens rock too!! ..just got a freezer full of em at .69 cents a pound for local ones....I am brining one right now in mulling spices, extra cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, sea salt, peppercorns, lemon zest and lemon juice...it will brine in that for a day and a half I think..
I have an upright stand/cooker thing that the chicken sits on...and all the lovely fat drips into it..and I save the shmaltz and use it for chopped liver or frying.
I make stock out of the necks and giblets and the bones after I pick off the cooked meat....talk about getting your moneys worth! _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

I rarely stray from my eating program..tho sometimes I change it..but it is planned...this month is more about fitness for me.
I am doing really well with my exercise program and getting in some miles on the bike...and very much enjoying lifting weights...and really proud that I can do 100 push-ups 3 days a week.
Day 14
Food
roasted chicken
apple, walnut, bacon, lettuce salad with dressing
coffee with half and half
maybe some seafood chowder after work if I am hungry..maybe not...
Exercise, nope..just work. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

I don't stray, and have just replaced butter with coconut oil. Next week I want to give another brand of butter a chance to see if it is the lactose or simply the dairy that affects me - causing low blood sugar symptoms. With the coconut oil I seem not to have them and be fuller for longer.
Food yesterday was one chicken breast and 1 T-bone. No idea about calories, I eat when I'm hungry and a chicken breast is really filling - and easy <g>. But the yummy T-bone is like a treat! They'r enot very big, I don;t think I eat a pound of meat off it, but it's enough, and I am sooooooooo glad!
Did quite some walking yesterday with my guest, shopping and later a walk in the wood with the dogs. _________________ Willeke |

This is a question for the ladies (ok men you can answer it too so you don't feel left out)
I am wondering how many calories you all average a day..and what percentages of fat/protein/carb you have..that is if you track that sort of thing...also your age/weight/activity level.
I realize we all have individual needs for our bodies..I am just really curious what works for people.
These are my average daily stats for the last 2 months.
Calories 1,705 (though I think it's more like 1800 because I just didn't eat for a few days in there)
Fat, 128 gr, 67%
Protein, 111 gr, 27%
Carbs, 22 gr, 5%
Activity level: moderate?
Age 43
Weight 195
I have experimented with other ratios as well..this one seems to be working well for now..but it may change. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat

Thanks! Skipped my Ribeye this morning for an omelet - hoping I can handle some wings tonight. Feels a lot better already.
And y0u - that's a great question. I have a feeling I'll be at the top calorie wise. Gonna plug some numbers in now to give you an idea. I don't track but I also don't vary my menu a whole lot so I can certainly give an average day. |

I don't track it at all anymore. I did so in 2006, when I lost a LOT of weight but now I am just going by my hunger, eat when I'm hungry and drink water or decaf when I'm thirsty. Go to bed when Im sleepy!
Today I had two T bones and one half of a chickenbreast and am sleepy but I did a lot of walking and talking and takes a lot of energy. Normally one T bone is enough a day and some chicken. _________________ Willeke

Alright, according to Fitday my usual Ribeye and wings comes out to:
Calories: 2203
Fat: 173.5g / 71%
Protein: 149.8 / 29%
*Note - I used NY Strip trimmed to 1/2" for my steak because it was the closest I could find. So, I'm sure my calories and fat are actually higher from my untrimmed Ribeye's.
Age: 35
Weight: 307
Activity: Light |

for yOu:
This was a great question and I've learned from all the answers as well.
According to my fit day, You are much more active than I, with your biking, fitness activity, etc. which I admire about yOu. My activity involves walking up and down flights of stairs at home and office, walking my dog at most.
Food, According to fit day: Calories: this month so far average 822 a day because I'm in heavy ketosis and not very hungry. This is unusually low for me and this thread is keeping me on task.
Protein:34%
Fat:62%
Carbs:3%
Todays weight is down to 184, I started my period, so I expect not to lose for a week. I had been losing about a half lb. to full lb. a day.
Today's eats: decaf coffee, HC
Chicken breast, plain at lunch
Chicken breast with sage and butter for dinner
with iced tea unsweetened
I cut out my cheese intake today and want to cut out ice tea too since it's .7 of a carb and they add up after 3 glasses.
I had been on Depo Provera,(birth control injection) and did not have a period for 3 years, I stopped the Depo and they are just starting again...ouch! _________________ http://www.fitday.com/fitness/Pub...urnals.html?Owner=surfergirlpuppy

Ladies, thank you so much for your responses..I too am learning a lot from all your answers...it's amazing how we all differ. _________________ Flap-a-doodle-kick-a-poodle-kitty-kitty-cow-cow ~ Fat Freddy's Cat |

had four pork triangles, I really don't know what you call them. They look like this, and are lovely baked in the oven.
short pork rib triangle uncooked both sides
Normally I can only eat two, but this morning I just had to have all four...
Was looking forward to my T-bone tonight, but really don'nt feel like eating at all yet, so who knows, I may keep it till tomorrow! _________________ Willeke |
