Nora or Violeta

I'm not really trying to get bigger. Sometimes I just think I'm trying.  Wink

I weight more eating high protein diet compared to high fat diet (but I eat more calories eating high fat).
But it's hard to compare since I'm never consistant with overeating. Basically after a day or two of trying to eat more I get busy with stuff and loose interest in overeating (and sometimes even eating).
I eat dairy on a daily basis, sometimes most of my calories come from dairy.
My weight is dead stable for years.

I use coconut oil sparingly and it doesn't seem to bother me in small amounts but larger doses give me digestive problems as well.

I've got a dumb question for you coconut oil users - does it taste like coconut? I hate coconut...so I was just wondering. I mean...olive oil doesn't taste like olives so?

Ok...like I said, it was dumb  Oops

MM I love coconut but don't like coconut smelling oil for some reason. If you buy the extra virgin coconut oil it seems to smell more coconuty, so I just by the plain refined organic coconut oil and it has no smell to me and I use it instead of lard for frying. I'd use lard but I can't find it here. It's all hydrogenated.

Dear RunningDog,

Why do you think the protein puts on weight but not the fat alone? I guess it is the combinations- the protein is turned to glucose and also raises insulin more than the fat?

Update:
I eat whatever I want at the moment. Following my gut works way better than any structured diet. So no pemmican or meat only diet for me.
By whatever I mean dairy, meats, fats, eggs, coffee, booze, water, hot dogs, bacon, whole chickens, and some other stuff.
Raw or cooked to death.
When I eat not thinking about what and how much I eat I feel better regardless of what's the diet composition.

The guy who talks to Jesus (biblelife.org) claims that protein can only make you gain body fat when you eat excess fat as well. It makes sense.
IMO when you are going to eat unlimited fat (which IMO is not a bad idea) you may try to keep protein low. But I think equilibrium (proper body composition, good energy etc) can be found of diferent mixtures of protein and fat.  I don't believe in pemmican being the only proper ratio of fat to protein or whatever.

In my limited experience, I find that lower protein (but not that low) and higher fat work best for me. You just have to find the ratios that work for you.

Thanks Guys for the replies. I like to eat alot of fat- but, by gum, it does make me feel nauseous at about 6 hours later- really nauseous and often I have to wake up in the night with it.

The cream just isn't working - I try and try with it and constantly get a swollen finger and aching knee the next day consistently- even really heavy Swiss cream at 45% does not stop this from happenning. I thought at that level the casein would be all but gone and there would not be an autoimmune reaction, seems I am wrong- it also can make me hypoglycemic. In fact, so can the fat too- which makes no sense. Believe me, after an evening meal of 99% fat - pork and duck, I can feel really awful and very hypo.  weird as no carbs and no protein at all in that

I need to make small modification to my diet:
First bet on horses then get drunk not the other around

Otherwise my diet is almost perfect.

Hi RunningDog - High fat intake because I am trying to gain weight and as I poorly manage carbs these days it is necessary to get the weight on somehow- hence lots of fats and some good quality meat /fish protein- mainly salmon, lamb and pork. Too much protein and same effect as carbs unfortunately ie; feels like a hypo- weak, shaky, pale ...etc.

Don't you carnivore critters find it hard if you do eat bread, grains, snickers bar etc - does it not give you an insulin rush also as your bodies are not really used to it now? I do have red wine which i love but it is small amounts.

Cheers, Violeta

Why do you want to gain weight?
What about just eating for a while, stop thinking about diet just eat. Fat intake is easily regulated by hunger after a while.

Lutz mentioned that many of his underweight patients kept loosing weight for a year or so before regaining the proper body weight.

I do not eat such things, since I consider them poison.  It's been over six years since I've eaten anything like that, and I don't plan on ever eating them again.

I've bought Primal Body Primal Mind
http://www.primalbody-primalmind.com/
Nora got bashed on zerocarbage forum so I decided that she may be on to something since nazis hate openminded people.

The book sucks but I've just bought it to read the chapter on protein.
Her advice is to severely limit protein (like 70 gr max for a big male).
I'm keeping my protein low most of the time anyway just because I prefer to eat cream rather than eat steaks by pounds.

Her diet is in line with Optimal Nutrition and Rosedale diet. Low/very low carb, low protein, high fat.

The only downfall is her promise that her diet kills addictions so it means I have to work harder to keep them alive.

Thanks for the book review and it does sound like Optimal or Dr. Kurt Harris' Panu nutrition plan.

I myself am following a higher fat lower protein carnivore lifestyle. This works best for me.

Regarding vices the only one I have now is coffee and it's staying  Grin

I was thinking about something.

It seems that I feel fine both on higher protein diet and very high fat diet.
The middle ground (high protein high fat meals) seems  to create some minor problems.

So maybe there is a way to combine both.

So I'm thinking of eating high fat meals (like 90% fat so pork belly, cream, etc) on its own and high protein foods (like whole chicken or eggs or cheese) on its own .

If I'm wrong I will just feel fine if I'm right I should feel even better.

I may come back to very low protein diet later on just to reach immortality.

Kateryna

Coffee acts like a purine in our body (ok sort of). That'w why we love it. And it seems to be an upgraded version of purine.

Runningdog:

Thanks for that link. It looks like maybe my body is craving coffee for a number of reasons. The one that interests me the most is this one:

"Coffee inhibits iron absorption if taken with meals, helping to prevent iron overload"
This was a big concern for me since I'm no longer bleeding and I'm not allowed to give blood.

I've been losing since going carnivore, drinking lots of cream in the coffee and 1/2 cup before bedtime and am losing at a very consistent pace for my advanced years.

Your input is always appreciated :)

One more thing:
My masseuse told me that she can feel something funny (by funny I mean weird) in my intensines. She's sure it's something new (she knows my body well) and she asked me to see the doc.
She tried to trick me to do some medical checks before (she knows I hate doctors) but this time she swears to God it's true (ok she was right a while ago when I broke my toe but I just fixed it without seeing a doc).

So I may do a full medical check-up next month or so. Or not. Not decided yet.

No idea. All I know is that I'm not pregnant so if something is really growing inside it's not welcomed.

I've lost a bet with myself  so I'm not allowed to eat dairy for a week.
Butter included.

New idea. Since I'm deprived of good food this week anyway why not to  push it even harder. This is something I wanted to try a while ago.

7 days on raw pork fat, raw yolks and maybe raw liver or meat
And vodka to keep me sane (or insane what means normal)

What kind of vodka?

And why do y0u switch up your eating plans so much?  I never saw measureable results unless I stuck to one plan for at least a month at a time..just curious.

To be honest I'm not switching eating plans at all.

It's just rambling about it.

It looks like that:
I decide to do let's say raw meat diet, so I eat raw meat for a few days and nothing happens except eating raw meat only being just pain in the ass so after those few days I'm back to my mixed diet. And I feel great on my mixed diet.

But after a few weeks I'm back to wondering maybe I'm missing something and I'm up to my next diet trial with zero effects on my well-being, etc, etc. And it goes on and on.

I'm eating mixed zero to VLC diet for years without any real changes.
The longest time on single diet was 2,5 years on Optimal Diet. It worked great.

Sometimes I eat more meat, sometimes more dairy, sometimes more protein, sometimes less, sometimes raw, sometimes cooked, etc
Sometimes I don't eat at all sometimes I eat all day long.

If I want to be in very good shape I just watch what I eat more and drink less and train more. That's it.

And I don't believe in long adaptation periods. After a few days you should know what's going on.

Those people who still feel off after like few months on meat and water are just lunatics or they are doing something very wrong.
