Dean, I'm so sorry about your Dad.
My mother is in a nursing home and smiles politely at us kids when we visit. She doesn't know who the hell we are but she is always pleasant and cheerful. At least she is happy and well looked after, even though it's breaking our hearts that she doesn't remember us. So we have actually lost our mother without actually losing her. Yah, we lost our Dad to this terrible disease over two years ago. Considering most all his siblings got it, he's lucky that he's almost done with it, cuz, he was not happy like your Mom. He was having those disturbed symptoms that many have. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd take up smoking again. Not really, but it does cross one's mind when it runs so deep in one's family. Of course, my Mom died as sharp as a tack, and peacefully in her sleep after having all her kids there with her for the weekend. My Dad was always forgetful, and my Mom wasn't. So, there's always hope that I have more of her genes. Dean, I lost my parents from long horrible diseases when I was a young girl, but all I remember now is the good memories, and even some of the bad ones have become more like comedy in the last few years, with my brothers....I have now lived longer and healthier than both...and happy too. Yes Surfergirl, we are trying to overcome those hereditary diseases that we and our families are predisposed to by eating the real human diet as Jeff calls it. Depending on how late we started eating this way, we can probably alleviate if not completely avoid those diseases. My Dad passed away on Thursday and we buried him yesterday. It was a nice service. A lot of people were there, including my very large extended family. I'm lucky to have such a large close-knit family who can trace their roots way back hundreds of years.
I'm glad my Dad is out of his misery and was only in the nursing home for about a year and a half. He had a long and fruitful 86 years. He did a lot of good things for a lot of people in his life.

What are you listening to music-wise lately Dean?
You won't believe this, but I was recently taken to the symphony at LA Phil Disney concert hall for the first time, and it was life changing for me. I then went to a movie on Beethoven's life and enjoyed that so much I downloaded a bunch of Beethoven's work to my IPhone and have been listening to it non stop. It makes me feel so positive. It's like it's rewiring my brain to joy. I listen to it while grilling steaks and cutting up chicken. People are gathering in my kitchen more, laughing more. What is this strange phenomena?
