One of our faculty members wife is hispanic. I'll ask him. I don't see why not. We have everything else. Halal markets, jewish markets, asian markets, korean markets, chinese markets, caribean markets, italian markets, polish markets, german markets, farmers markets. Should be a hispanic one somewhere.  Happy

I have found great meat deals there too, and at the Asian groceries. You are lucky to have them there. Going through the MSG isle is quite alarming though, seeing it packed like powdered sugar in huge bags.

Well it's the end of September and I've lost 5.8 pounds this month, even though I was off to a bumpy start at the beginning of the month.

October 12th will be my 4th month completed of carnivore eating and it's become easier not harder eating this way. I haven't had any cravings for 3 weeks and I'm enjoying my food. What else can a girl ask for (besides a 99 year old millionaire with no living relatives asking for her hand in marriage)?  Grin

I am truly blessed with family and friends on this forum who are very supportive and understanding. My thanks to everyone in helping me to succeed  Clap

How long does it take to become keto-adapted? I've been doing this for almost 4 months and thought I'd check my ketones. Still deep purple.

I haven't had beef all week and I've been going down on the scale every day. Maybe I've discovered something about myself? Think I'll have steak once a week from now on but the rest of the time: chicken, pork, salmon, eggs.

So found out there are no hispanic markets here yet after talking to one of my colleagues. Drats.

Well kids, finally hit 199.6 this morning and I'm glowing with peace and contentment, only because it's reinforced my position that I have finally found a plan I can sustain and will help me regain my health and lose weight. It's been almost 4 months and I've managed to basically stay on plan the entire time. A new record for me.

Not as sexy or interesting as yOu's journal but life carries on.

I've been stalled at 199 to 200 pounds for 9 days now. So it looks like my stalls come every 5 pounds or so.

My sibs and I have lost a combined total of 162 pounds thus far, so progress is being made albeit slowly. Bro went to have his fasting lipids checked Sunday so the results of his all beef, coconut oil and water diet should be known within a week.

No one has a life as exciting as yOu's. I'm so glad she shares!
Your stall will be over soon! I am eager to hear the good news on your brother's lipids, and happy to hear about the great combined weight loss.

It's been 4 months carnivore and this past month has been the easiest. No cravings and I've been happy with what I'm eating. Weight loss has slowed down considerably. Plateaus are much more frequent. Average monthly weight loss is 6.75 pounds for a total of 27.2. What matters most is the sustainability part.

My diet consists of pork, eggs, bacon, chicken, salmon, beef, cheese, cream, coconut oil, butter, coffee and water. I am happy with these foods, don't have any intolerances to them and provide enough variety to keep me satisfied.

That is awesome, Kate.  Over 27 pounds in 4 months is great.  Just like you, I find this way of eating totally satisfying.

That's great Kate. Your weight loss is extremely great for 4 months. I have been doing this the same amount of time and lost 25 lbs, and like you, no longer have cravings. It took me 3 1/2 months to NOT want carbs totally.

I'm a rather social person ....gregarious by nature y0u might call me. Roll Eyes

Kateryna..your weight loss is amazing...and quite speedy actually.  My weight loss in the beginning was much slower..but I was also doing Atkins and eating some frankenfoods and grains in the beginning of LC.

Do you feel like your metabolizm is becoming "fixed"?...have you bought new clothing yet?

Thank you EVERYONE! You make me very happy and loved.

I've spent about 6 days at 199, 199.8, 199.4, 199.6, 199.2, but I haven't hit 200 WOO HOO. I count any and all small victories  Grin

Yes I have bought a few new clothes and tossed some old ones. I still had some 18's and 16's in the closet that I'm now fitting into. I'm thinking transition and not buying a lot of clothing, just enough to get me through until I reach my ideal weight whatever that may be.

And yOu, I love all your escapades. Brings back SSSSSOOOO many memories. Keep it up  Sunny

yOu, I had a very responsible and serious youth myself. I won't go into details but suffice to say I made up for it in my 30's and 40's. Now I'm just plain happy with myself.

Sounds like we had some similar experience...and I do have to say I am happier with myself than I have been in a long time..even though I am dirt poor right now...So I shall continue my escapades...actually I was just telling a friend about my funky job at the grocery store..it's quite the den of iniquity... As I sit here pondering upon dieting and how well my apron fits, after frying up 10 slices of bacon and 3 egg yolks, and not worrying about all the grease splattering all over my clothing, I have decided to wear my apron when eating too that way any stray bits of fat don't end up in the wrong place

In reality I've been thinking about how impatient we all are to lose weight.

Slim = sexy
Slim = healthy
Slim = beautiful

So of course we are accultured to become slim and become slim right now. It's only natural and I am not chastizing anyone including myself for feeling impatient with my weight loss.

But then it came to me that I am losing. I am losing very, very slowly but the operative word is I'm "losing." I could probably lose weight faster if I:

stopped drinking coffee
stopped the cheese
stopped the cream
stopped the eggs

and I would drive myself nuts and not enjoy this woe. So, I can stop thinking and just continue this wonderful way of eating that makes me very happy.

You are still losing weight with the coffee, cheese, eggs and cream, as am I.
These foods bring joy to me and I do not gain from them.

I have often had this same thought. I didn't lose when I cut them out.

I need to share this.

Dr. Douglass II is a gas and I get his newsletter. This is part of it here that interests me because I had a stroke at age 46. And I'm following his advice right now as we speak.

Quote:
You can lower your risk of stroke by changing your lifestyle -- but ignore any nonsense you might hear about the need to avoid fat. You can eat a good steak every night if you want -- just avoid processed foods and carbs, and make sure you're getting all your essential nutrients, either from food or your vitamins. And unless you want to hurt yourself or die of a heart attack instead of a stroke, skip the exercise. Eat right, and you'll never need to step onto a treadmill again, and you can laugh at all the poor fools paying big bucks to torture themselves in the local gym. Get yourself back into fighting shape, and your body will be able to fight for you. Always in shape for a fight,
William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

Went out with my friends last night. It was wonderful but it killed me because they are getting so ill eating the way their doctor is telling them. It's so hard sitting there across from them and listening to their health concerns, all the meds they are taking, all the nights they can't sleep through due to insomnia, the lack of energy, the feeling of tiredness, the list is endless.

This gives me more motivation to continue eating this way so that I can get to my ideal weight as soon as possible so that maybe, just maybe, I can get them to really ask me how I did it and to really listen to what I say. But ultimately, it is their decision to make. We grew up in an age when our doctors were considered gods and some of us have broken free of that misconception and some of us haven't.  No No

This morning filled my crockpot full of pork ribs and set it on low for 10 hours. Just added some of my favorite spices. Also bought a ton of pork shoulder which I will cook tomorrow. Should have enough food for about a week.  :yay:

I'm plateaued now at 198.4. Been bouncing around 198's for about 10 days. It's ok cause I'm eating such delicious food and I have no cravings and no hunger. After all isn't that the state we want to be in? No hunger, no cravings, no weight gain? Plus my size 16 pants are fitting much better, so I'm still losing inches.

Katie...don't get too used to those size 16's...they will be too big soon.
I have a bunch of clothes that need taken in, but I will do it when more weight comes off, so as not to have to take them in again too soon.

You are making me want ribs in the crock pot. I will go later today and get a bunch of beef ribs for Sunday! The Hebrew teacher for the BF was just saying he would love some.

What sauce do you use? I need some ideas. I have made it in the past, just got a lo carb recipe off the internet. Should I do that again?

I do not use any sauces. Just spices like curry and salt and pepper.  I like my ribs plain sorry.

I'm also baking pork shoulder on low for a long time. I'll have quite a few meals. I just use salt, pepper and onion powder.

I haver never eaten sauces on my food so I'm not used to them and don't miss them.

Both of those dishes sound yummy! I just love pork. The curry sounds great. I use curry in many of my crock pot meats. Thanks for the great ideas.
You are doing so well, your stall will be over soon.

My late father, rest his soul, was an alcoholic. He tried to instill values in us kids by using terror, sarcasm and intimidation. What I saw lately on the zero-carb board was strangely reminiscent of those days. I will never, ever go back there.

There is a lot of information on the net for those who want to continue learning about nutrition and health. Most of us can make intelligent choices because we already found this way of eating and eventually we found very low carb, carnivore and zero-carb. Perhaps personal experimentation and research works best in the long run.

Dropped a solid pound today  Hammer

I wanted to use the hammer so I used it.

It's all good though. No cheats, no cravings, feeling happy, happy, happy.

Plugging along slowly and surely.

Wt today: 196.8

Weight is moving a tad now that I've tweaked a bit by eliminating my cheese and lowering my salt. I'm not salt free and don't intend to eliminate it altogether. I'm not saying I won't have cheese in my omelet on the weekends but not everyday. Once I reach my ideal weight it will probably have a place in my diet on a regular basis. I do intend to remain a carnivore though.

My respect for backing up on the cheese (I love cheese!), and for the weight moving.
Love your new avatar.
Do you think it's ok for me to use a natural water pill for when I'm holding a lot of fluid in that time of the month? It helps the bloat...any salt at that time makes me puffy.

I am not familiar with natural water pills but generally I am against all pills. Once the body decides to get rid of the water it will. That's my thinking.
