Way to go, everyone! This is more difficult (for me) than I thought it would be. Though I'm not missing the diet pop like I was. Mineral water does help! Been taking my tea black - I miss the texture/mouthfeel of cream/coconut milk in it though.
Today I had salmon sashimi, Red's coffee/egg "latte", a few pepperettes, a local, organic rib steak with loads of butter (and some garlic/ginger), and a bit of cheese/cream. Just a bit. I took some enzymes along with it.
I was really craving the raw salmon this morning. I waited til noon, but I was wanting it almost as soon as I got up. Ordered a 20-pc, ate 16 and gave the rest to the cats. I wasn't full, I just felt like I was done - funny how protein is like that, your body just says "enough, thanks". _________________ www.fearandloathinginthekitchen.com |

It is getting tougher as the days go on. I am having a hard time getting enough fat without protein. When I had chicken the other day, 2 hours or so after I ate it, I was SO HUNGRY. Insulin spike?
Anyway, picked up a bag of pork rinds. That seems to be helping. _________________ http://wifezillasway.blogspot.com/ |

I'm taking my name off the list so I don't drive down the average when you figure how many avg. days per person at the end of the month.

This almost sounds like my experience, less the mag. I believe the dairy is taking over. I am now backing away from the dairy!
I can't add any more days, I had mayo one day and diet coke the next.... _________________

Has anyone experienced constipation when eating all meat? If so does it eventually get better? After reading fiber menace maybe I need to take some probiotics to fix my gut.

I have had constipation issues forever. I can't blame it on meat. More likely a thyroid issue in my case.
I am struggling people. In order to get my fat cravings under control I had turned to pork rinds. Now I am all bloated. Ack. _________________ http://wifezillasway.blogspot.com/ |

I am assuming that you have probably heard of using Magnesium supplements to get things moving, but justin case, I thought I'd mention it. On the rare occasion that it is a problem I have taken about 1000 mg of unchelated Magnesium and it resolves that day or the next. HTH. |

No never head that. I'll have to try it. But I also need to fix the underlying problem. I have had digestive issues for a while now.

Sure you have. You just didn't notice. Phillips 'Milk of Magnesia' is the classic antacid in small doses and laxative in large ones. (Tsp vs. Tbls)

The ingredients may be similar, but my experience with MOM were more "urgent", for lack of a better word, while using the supplements has never caused a panicked rush to a bathroom. To me that is a very big difference. I am not sure if the difference is related to the form, or the dosage. |

Kim, MoM (milk of magnesia) will clear you out like you've never been cleared out before. Don't take it if you have to leave the house for any reason.
Non-carnivore day - had some choccy and PB, coconut milk, and SF maple syrup (with maltitol in it - oof, I am regretting it now. Never tried it before, might give MoM a run for it's money. Plus it was too sweet)
Going out for dinner tomorrow for V-Day with some ppl - all you can eat mussels. Pretty sure they're cooked in wine, so tomorrow likely won't count either :(

| last night i had a dream that i was in a raw vegan restaurant and two guys at the next table were eating off a big blob of raw hamburger. kind of a BYOBurger thing. i said to whoever i was with 'oh is that the way the raw movement is going?' the guys were looking at me a little defensively but when i returned from the restfoom, there was a big mound on my table which they had passed over.....funny it is not my goal to eat raw. i did notice while reading nourishing traditions yesterday that fallon has a chapter of recipes. i knew about the french tartare but didn't realize that so many other cultures had some raw meat dish (other than the japanese, of course). |

Red, just how great do you think the risk of getting sick from surface bacteria from raw meat would be? _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

I'm not sure how to answer that. If you're looking for a "1 in xxxxx odds" kind of answer, then I have no idea! It totally depends on the source of your meat and how sensitive you are to said bacteria. Ground meat is much more of a risk because of all the surface area, but steaks and chops don't seem to be much of a concern, provided your source of meat isn't bargain-basement-quality.
I did rinse the meat in hot water to quickly warm it up (rather than having to wait for it to come to room temp) and then dried it off with paper toweling, so that would also deal with some of the bacteria and general slimey-ness on the surface.
But the whole searing thing is completely up to your own comfort level. Yes there is a risk, but there is a risk when you eat anything - spinach, raspberries, alfalfa sprouts, fast food, etc. _________________ Red |

I was explaining some of y'alls obsession with eating raw meat to someone who does not LC. He said it was like sushi and I told him it was more like "Moo"shi.

Another raw day for me...
Like I said before, I've been eating raw since July and like every kind of stuff, from supermarket quality to really high quality grassfed organic bison, organ meats (liver, heart, tongue, kidneys, pancreas), different animals (lamb, veal, beef, duck), egg yolks, fish (farmed, wild including guts and head), shellfish (oysters, shrimps, scallops, clams). No cooking at all!! No washing. I've experienced no problems thus far and yet, the last time I had food poisoning was when I ate COOKED food at a very high end restaurant (probably the fish). Go figure...
Oh...and many times, I've eaten high (or rotten) fish and meat, sometimes really rotten (i.e. heart). And not a small piece either.
We are wayyyy to afraid of bacteria for own good. _________________ "When you give up your dream, you die" |

Kristelle, if you live anywhere near Toronto I know of a French place that serves horse tartare. I am sure Red would be happy to partake as well! (Actually Red, we should go...haven't tried it yet)
I have to know how the fish guts/head were, and if you used any sauce :) And the high meat - what, did you leave it on a heater or something, what? I am soooo curious. If I did this, my fella would leave me. He dry heaves when my cat's food (raw beef etc) gets a tad pungent. Total wuss. _________________ www.fearandloathinginthekitchen.com |

I live in Montreal, Quebec, 6 hours away but I might visit. My cousin lives there. And been there many times before.
Fish gut and head (i.e. mackerel) was yukky. Never again! No sauce added. When I eat raw, I eat RAW, nothing added. I'm just that type of person. Either do it all the way or don't do it at all.
High meat essentially means rotten meat. _________________ "When you give up your dream, you die" |

Batifole? Yes, I've been many times! The chef's significant other is a food stylist that I've worked with often. She also used to rock climb with me, sometimes! The horse tartare there is delicious. Horse is really really yummy meat. My mentor that I used to work with for years says that dog is his favourite, followed closely by horse. I've never tried dog, though. To my knowledge, anyway. _________________ Red |

I was feeling like a fat, disgusting, bloated cow this morning and thought about blowing off the scale. Then I realized I didn't weigh yesterday either, so I forced myself to face the music. Turns out my weight hasn't changed and I am just being a total girl! (Must mean TOM is on the way.) _________________ http://wifezillasway.blogspot.com/ |

after seeing what my dogs consider edible (and sometimes gourmet), i will have to pass on dog meat. i guess it's part of my being american, though. there was a viet namese family that lived behind us and they always kept dogs....to eat. they were some cute dogs too.
