April Carnivore Contest
All foods should be as natural, fresh, and whole as possible. Animal fat should be kept high, 60-80% of calories, and carbs should be kept as low as possible. The cleaner one eats and the closer they get to an exclusive raw animal diet, the more points they can rack up. The goal is not to be perfect, but to see how close you can get to our ancestor's diet.
Allowed
* any part of any animal (including processed meat)
* eggs
* dairy
* vegetation
* olive/nut oil
* condiments, seasoning, AS
* beverages
>>> To get any points you must have only what's Allowed and remain under 20g carbs. <<<
If you have something not allowed or go over 20g carbs you are out for the day, you get zero points.
Add up your points each day. You can get up to 5 points per day.
One point for each, for having:
- only allowed items + under 20g carbs
- no alcohol + no AS
- no vegetation + no oil
- no processed meat + no dairy (except butter)
- some raw animal part / raw egg
So, for instance, if you had no vegetation and no oil during the day, you would get ONE point for abstaining from those items... or if you had no alcohol and no AS, you would get ONE point for not having those things... or if you had no dairy and no processed meat that day, there's another ONE point.
You can get up to FIVE points per day.

E got me thinking about how to bring all these April Contests together. I think I've come up with a nice solution.
Here is a way we can merge all these April Carnivore Contests into one thread, and, as E alluded to, give the most points (incentive) to those who eat as carnivorously as possible.
I've developed a rubric where participants can get 1-5 points for each day they stick to the Allowed list (a pretty liberal list). The more one moves toward eating just clean raw cuts of animals, giving up rubbish and cow pus, the more points they can rack up. It will really be interesting to see how many points some can accumulate. There are 150 points possible. On a group level there could be massive amounts of points.
One thing I thought would be cool, is if we could split the group of participants (at random) into two groups. I can use random.org to do that. This way, we could have two groups competing, which would make it fun.
Let me know what y'all think of this. Do you want three different wings, or one big party? _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

The first two posts of this thread have been updated.
I think this thing will be fairly simple. People can rack up points for compliance as well as extra things, like avoiding rubbish, cow pus, etc.
So, who wants in this contest? One big party in one wing. We can divide into two groups (randomly assigned participants) to get some competition goin', if we want.

Depending on how many participants we get, we can split into two groups and have some competitive fun!
If you want in (or out), just say the word!
One thing's for sure. The Boot Babes are gonna be quite busy keepin' this crew in line! _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Well, Bobi, looks like you could satisfy three no problem, which would be 90 points for the month.

Especially the heavy cream. I've been drinkin' that stuff before bed! Eating butter and drinking cream have become my sedative. Makes me feel so calm. Is it all that animal fat, or somethin' else?
A couple years ago, I was chunking up raw bison fat every day and eating this stuff, and man it really made me feel great. Only problem is, I was pouring cream over the fat chunks in a bowl, and then eating it like cereal. Was it the cream or the raw bison fat that made me feel so fantastic? Sounds like an experiment may be in order.
| lynnedear wrote: | i see VLC on the dairy...

Yes, it would. VLC dairy is like cream, cream cheese, sour cream, cheese, stuff like that. Yogurt is loaded with carbs from lots of lactose. For this Contest, butter is not considered dairy. Many will need that to keep their fat ratios up, eating modern cuts of meat.
| lynnedear wrote: | | one more thing... almond meal, pecan meal.. allowed or not? |
Those are nuts, and they are allowed, but not encouraged, really. You will get more points if you avoid them for this Contest. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

Allowed
* any part of any animal (natural clean cuts)
* eggs
* unsalted butter
* seasoning, ZC condiments
* water
This will be my April foods. I'm goin' for 5 points a day, for a total of 150 for the month. Anyone with me?
It's basically meat and eggs with some seasoning to jazz it up, and butter to up the fat.
I'm also gonna eat a lot of raw meat and eggs, to start gettin' the hang of that. _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.

I'm shooting for 120.
I think it would be cool if all of our happy contestants posted their point goals before the contest starts.
Be sure to pick a number that would be a challenge. I figured 110 would be about right, so I added 10 to make it a challenge.

Awesome idea! I am aiming for 100 points. I also added 10 to what seemed reasonable, given my tendencies ;)
Going to really make an effort to just use butter. Cream from time to time. Cheese - rarely if at all. Sigh. I did it before, I can do it again.
Question - what should I count coconut milk as, veg or VLC "dairy"? Or condiment, since I use it in tea? Hmm.
Another question - berries, count as VLC veg? :)
BTW Dean, I will comply with whatever you say. I aspire to total obedience. _________________ www.fearandloathinginthekitchen.com |

| Coconut milk is 50% oil and some carbs and a ton of fibre. In the quantities you're talking about I would consider it a "nut oil". |

You're in! Welcome to the April Carnivore wing, Heather!
| Kim wrote: | | So the way I am reading this, you would still get all 5 points if you included salt and did not include the rest of the disallowed? |
| Kristi31 wrote: | | Any extra point for eating raw?! |
Kim, just go down the list, and add up your points. You have to comply with the Allowed list to even play that day, and you will get a point just for compliance, plus, you get to go down that list for extra points. Just go through the rubric at the bottom of the OP and add up your points. Salt is not on the rubric, and, Kristelle, eating raw isn't either, but I can always change that. I wanted to keep it simple, so no more than five things to check. But, earlier, I was thinking about adding raw animal &/or egg to the rubric.
What do y'all think? Should we give extra points for gettin' some real nutrients?
| Tracy wrote: | | what should I count coconut milk as, veg or VLC "dairy"? Or condiment, since I use it in tea? Hmm. |
Coconut oil is nut oil, and coconut milk is nuts. You can say that again! Either way, both are included, but if you do without 'em, you will get a point for "no vegetables, nuts, oil".
| Tracy wrote: | | Another question - berries, count as VLC veg? :) |
Berries aren't vegetables , and are pretty sweet. They bred them to be that way, ya know. Eat some of that rubbish, and you can sit in your cell that day. And, even mention cocoa, and we'll send ya upstairs.

Hmmmm.....
I vote No change in points but a 100% raw day is 5 point day as long as you are "on the list". If it's pasteurized it's not raw.

Say what? Are you talkin' raw rubbish?!
E, the idea behind this is to allow folks a gradual change to a more and more carnivore eating regimen. So, just gettin' in a bit of raw animal/eggs now and then will help one get used to it.
I think I'm gonna change it. I had sorta promised Kristelle I'd include her April Challenge in here. Yes, and raw is not pasteurized, of course.
Let's let Kristelle decide. She opened another April wing.
I personally know the extra nutrients that raw eggs and animals provide are gonna help me a lot. I think we should all be doin' this on a regular basis.
I wanna keep this thing simple, so just 5 items in the check list.
Kristelle, what do you think? Should we do raw? _________________ When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
