Hi,

I'm happy to be on the bus. I heard about the bus at the "Beyond Price" mailing list.

I'm the Santa Fe chapter leader for the Weston A Price Foundation and I'm pretty experienced with Aajonus' way of eating so I'm comfortable with eating lots of raw animal meat and fat.

My body has never done very well with carbs. The worst diet I've ever done - and I've done lots - is a raw vegan diet. It really tore up my insides. When I discovered the Zone Diet some years ago I started making the shift to more protein. Then I discovered the primal diet and did that for a time.

In the last month my body has naturally - no effort on my part - shifted to very low carb. I eat one or two grapefruits or a bit of some other fruit, several times per week. I eat non-fibrous veggies occasionally. I eat fermented veggies occasionally. I drink homemade kombucha. That's pretty much it for carbs most of the time.

I eat lots of meat (beef, lamb, organs), maybe some fish, maybe several eggs on a typical day. I have some high meat (chicken) fermenting in my fridge right now. Until recently my body didn't do well with lots of animal fat due to problems with my liver/gallbladder. That has been healing itself and now I enjoy having lots of fat in my diet. I'll soon have 1/4 of a cow in my freezer to enjoy and share with friends.

I eat most of my meat raw (or previously frozen). I very much enjoy the lack of gas, lack of bloating, lack of hunger, loss of bodyfat, and lack of mental fog that very low carb gives.

New to me is the high fat to protein ratio. I like fat and now that I have virtually no discomfort in my liver/gallbladder when I eat fat I'm going to shift my fat/protein ratio up. I like butter (pasteurized right now) and coconut oil. That's most of the extra fat I eat.

I have some confessions to make that I hope don't lead to my getting gagged and bound, forced to the back of the bus, having to listen to scam-baiting stories

Happy

1. I sometimes refrigerate eggs.
2. I sometimes drink water, even when I'm not thirsty.
3. I sometimes cook meat.
4. I buy some of my meat frozen

I'm looking forward to enjoying riding the bus. If any of you are in Santa Fe or ABQ, drop me a line and lets get together. I recently met a guy here who eats raw meat and he's introducing me to other carnivores in the area.

I've been curious about intermittent fasting and may do it from time to time.

I lift weights (Olympic-style - snatch + clean + jerk) and I have been getting into rock climbing lately.

Sol

Hi Sol.  Welcome aboard the Bus.  You'll fit in great here.  We have a very knowledgeable and supportive group here.

I think most of us do most of those things as well, so you shouldn't have to worry about being bound and gagged and dragged to the back of the Bus. (Though you may soon find out the back of the Bus ain't such a bad place to be sometimes) Devil

Anyways.....welcome, and enjoy the ride!

Welcome to the Bus, Sol!

So glad you could join this journey. We are quite the carnivore clan.

Feel free to venture to the back of the Bus and help yourself to some Kool-Aid. Cool

Hi Mina,

Where's the April Carnivore contest written about?

I think a fun contest would be to see how long it would take a person to eat an entire cow! I'll have 1/4 of a cow in 6 weeks or so. It's grass-fed, thus on the lean side. So, my share should be about 200 pounds. Pre-carnivore that might last 18 months. But now ...

Thanks,
Sol

Wow! You are all a very friendly bunch. How could anybody ever want to leave the bus? Is it the raw meat that makes you all so friendly or something in the Kool-Aid?

Definitely more "friendly" on zero carb! Wink

I only my beef steaks raw, everything else is at a various stage of cooked so I'm not sure if that would be it.

"Something in the kool-aid?" Shock

Heather, you're quite a kick.

What's finally pushing me to do virtually no carbs is that my body doesn't enjoy breaking down the cellulose in fibrous fruits and veggies. (I can provide details to all who are interested!) That doesn't leave much in the way of healthy carbs.  So, carnivore fare it is!

I wonder if my body would do well with kool-aid. According to the Kraft web-site, Kool-aid has no cholesterol (Thank God!), virtually no sodium, no fat (saturated or otherwise) and one serving has only 64 calories.

Anyone up for a cow-eating contest?

Ugh! Raw plants! Damn things sit in my gut forever; I swear they don't even seem to get to the intestine for like 12 hours for me. I *know* because every time I did the Atkins style maintenance of a big salad with protein, say, for dinner, I'd be burping and distended well into the next day...or, I'd often even wake at say 3 or 4am with nausea to the degree that it would even make me vomit if it was bad enough (sorry TMI, I know  Roll Eyes but I'm trying to show that I wasn't 'imagining it'). And yup, you guessed it, there would still be all this damn plant matter, proud as you please, in its virgin state and totally undigested! Gross!

Hi Sol,
Welcome to the Bus..sorry it took me awhile to get over to the welcome threads, i am recently returning after being away.

Anyhoo, i LOVE Weston Price, i have the book "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" i also have the "Nourishing Traditions" cookbook and Mary Enig's "Eat Fat, Lose Fat" as well. I love the website too, great articles. i have learned alot from Weston Price, and have messed around a bit with NT, but the thing is ..i have eaten so much sugar and garbage for so many years..seems i am just best staying away from carbs as much as i can at this point.

Anyhoo..welcome to the Bus! Happy
