Jeff, you'll be fine. Your common sense prevents you from over-exercising like I see so many people doing at the expense of their bodies. "That" woman at work who is constantly getting knee surgery is one example of the "pushing yourself to the limit" mentality, no matter how much it hurts. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/197.8/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

By increasing protein intake they were able to make sled dogs injury free during the whole training season. But I don't remember who are they. _________________ "Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." - Hunter Thompson. |

Jeff, glad to hear you are back to your old self. You should treat exercise like hunger. If you are hungry, eat. If you feel like exercising, exercise. It should be that simple. _________________ Carnivore (Jun 12/09) 227/197.8/137 Max. wt: 247 (Jul-08)

Thanks Kate. Yes, I agree about exercise. I exercise because I enjoy it. I don't do it just because I think its good for me.
I did go for a 5 mile run yesterday. I did feel a bit of tightness in my calf, so I did not run as hard as I could have. In spite of that, I ran a personal best of 41:01, beating my old record by 4 seconds. Not a big difference, but the fact that I held back and still ran my best time is significant. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

Dang, I didn't read your offer until Sunday morning. Anyways, the race went well, even without the nipple massage.
I finished in 23:40, beating my June 5k race time by about 1:30. I finished 14 out of 98. And because of my recent injury, I only ran twice in the past 2 weeks. The time off didn't seem to hurt a bit. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

It will be interesting to see what the autopsies show. It's interesting that apparently all 3 deaths were from runners in the Half Marathon, not the full Marathon.
I remember 2 or 3 years ago there were several people that died during the Chicago Marathon, but those seemed to be as a result of excessive heat. That would not have been the case in Detroit. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

Going for a 5 mile tempo run today. It's a beautiful, cool sunny day. My previous best was 41:01, so I'm hoping to bust through the 41 minute barrier for the first time. I'm learning that to do your best, you need to run faster than you think you can. It's probably true for a lot of things.....not just running.

The Pig has prime rib on sale this week for $5.99/lb, so I bought a 4 pounder yesterday. Now I have to decide whether to share it with the famly, or keep it all to myself. _________________ Eat, Drink and Be Merry, For Tomorrow We'll Die |

Hi Jeff, Our Pavillion Grocery here has that same deal and I bought three prime rib roasts this week at $5.99 a lb. I couldn't believe it!
I have cut a couple of them into the best steaks I have ever tasted and have one whole prime rib roast left!
They had a new marinade, called Basque steak marinade and BBQ sauce. It actually is not the American BBq sauce of my youth, but a mix of red wine, cracked black pepper and garlic, and is a nice light pink color and thin consistency. Everyone raved about how good the steaks tasted after a bath in this, so I went back a bought a few bottles to stock up on.
Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Me too. It's one of my favorites. The only problem is, most of the butter ends up in the pan. I usually end up drinking the liquid in the baking pan. mmmmmm, chicken fat, butter, and cream cheese. Delicious!
